Meet Eighty Spadez

Hi Eighty , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I got my work ethic from my pops. He wouldn’t take a day off, unless he was truly sick, or truly injured. He used to say, ‘if you don’t do it, someone else will, and likely before you.’ I always took that to mean, ‘don’t be mad if somebody is doing what you want to do, all because you didn’t work hard enough.’ I try to incorporate that philosophy into all facets of my daily life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I LOVE to rap!! Freestyle, written, whatever. That is when I feel at my most free. Wordplay, cadence, creativity, coming up with great lines, crafting a great song, these things excite me! Rhymeswell Labs is the home of our label and merch. We’re currently working on creating some new designs. I’m working on a project with a great producer named Burroughs, and it’s nearing completion. Hopefully this should be available in the next couple of months.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Training. As stated before, the ability to work at perfecting your art would have to be number one to me. Loving what you do, & working on it to make it better is worth it’s weight in gold! Number two would definitely be find your lane. Figure out who you are, and how to present that to the masses. I don’t want to hear your interpretation of someone else, I want to hear YOU! And finally, create while losing the sense of failure. You don’t have to wonder if something will work if you don’t try.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My brother, Flowzz Rhymeswell. We had to learn how to do everything from scratch. Watching him take the knowledge we had, and go to school to elevate it was beyond inspiring for me. It made me relearn my craft, and we just kept building upon it. It made me a better rapper, and in turn, a better person.
