Meet Elaine Duran

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Elaine Duran a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Elaine, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
You ask how did I develop my confidence and self-esteem? However, before I even speak about development. I just want to say that some people are just born with a spark. Where it’s like the little train that could where you constantly say to yourself. “I know I can. I know I can.” until you have arrived? I feel as if I was born like that little train. From a very young age. I’ve always felt like the light is always on at the end of the tunnel and that my cup is always half full. Because of this, it has helped me to develop my confidence and self-esteem even more just having that firm optimistic foundation.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Elaine Duran. Celebrity cake designer, instructor, author, coach. I’m also a stage 4 breast cancer thriver! Bc surviving was once upon a time. I am 5 yrs cancer free and celebrating! I like to share everything about me with hopes it will inspire someone else to aspire for greater before they expire. I created a hub called EverythingElaine.com where cake enthusiasts can learn to be the best at the art ofcake design through 101 classes, business coaching, encouragement, or just a place to share, or connect. At Everything Elaine we specialize in beautiful and delicious sweet surprise gift arrangements. With our online customization and ordering the client has fun personalizing their cake colors, flavors, fillings, and more and we surprise deliver it to your loved one in our beautiful signature gift box. We are home of the Boujie Brownies and offer free shipping nationwide! We also do destination celebration cakes for all occasions. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Never neglect your resume or past experiences. They will catapult you where you need to go? No matter how small or how large the task count it all joy and enjoy the process because one day you’ll understand how it was all worth struggle. Embrace your setbacks bc failure is feedback and then you bounceback. Keep learning knew techniques, sharpen your skills, and become better than you were yesterday. You’ll thank yourself later. Nothing goes unnoticed. It all has a purpose and it’s perfect timing.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
As a believer, my faith in Jesus Christ has kept me grounded and focused. Because I Know that He is the author and finisher of my life. I count it all joy knowing if a door closes it was meant to be and if he opens a door make sure to walk through it. My life has purpose. I am here for a reason. Stage 4 couldn’t take me out. I must make sure to climb to the top. Tomorrow is not promised
