Meet Elaine Thompson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elaine Thompson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Elaine, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

My purpose was shaped immensely by my childhood and upbringing. I’m a firm believer that your purpose is tied to what you are truly passionate about. It is God-given and will align with the talents and passions he has placed inside of you. I grew up without a television as it was my father’s decision to one day remove the television out of our home and insist we entertain ourselves through books. This opened a portal to new worlds for my siblings and I. I was able to travel new worlds and dimensions through reading. This is why I love writing. I love transporting imaginations to unknown worlds. My writing is the fuel that inspires, motivates, and transports. It is a powerful tool that I consider to be a vast part of my purpose.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a freelance writer passionate about crafting articles, books, and creating engaging content. My focus is on sharing the stories and journeys of influential individuals who are trailblazers in their respective industries. My latest series, Giants of the Caribbean, highlights those who have honed their talents and are making significant strides in their fields. I’m excited to expand my writing portfolio this year and find great fulfillment in inspiring, motivating, and transporting readers through captivating narratives and shared experiences. My organization, Authors in Action, is dedicated to preserving and ensuring that the voices of leaders in their industries are heard by future generations. Additionally, my focus this upcoming year will on an initiative I started years ago called Universal Legacy Books. This project is bible based and I’m more than excited to dive deeper into this journey.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three elements that have played a major role in my journey are consistency, onboarding a team when necessary, and trusting my talent. Consistency was key when it came to almost every aspect of my journey. This included being consistent with putting out articles for my blog as well as constantly pitching potential clients. Also, I am heavily dependent on the parts of my team that make my work look polished and professional — namely my design and marketing team. Additionally, trusting my talent and my creative nature was another aspect that I would say played a key role in helping me succeed. I’ll throw in a bonus as I cannot leave this unsaid. Another key element is not being afraid of hearing “no.” Rejection is part of the process, and without a “no,” you can’t find the “yes.” My advice: dress up, reach out, and set up that meeting—you never know what’s possible unless you try.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

I have been fortunate to have a strong support system. This began with the values that were instilled in me by my father. Values like working hard, never quitting, being productive, and carefully managing time and money. Another aspect is my design and marketing team. A secret weapon of mine is Crown Society Design and Productions — https://www.crownsocietydesignandproduction.com/. They bring that polished and professional element that is beyond valuable. Additionally, I’m committed to continuously developing my perspective—whether through listening to motivational videos or attending industry related seminars to keep growing and evolving.
