Meet Eleanor Wall

We were lucky to catch up with Eleanor Wall recently and have shared our conversation below.

Eleanor, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I find creativity to be the drive that gives a huge part in defining my passion. When you go with the flow, creativity does also and will freely come in and out of your life.

So how do I keep my creativity alive? I join creative groups and following fellow creatives in social media by looking at their work can be inspiring and enlightening. In addition to that, being selected as one of the ambassadors of Adobe Express, I love that I am creatively challenged to share, learn, help, and inspire my audience by completing the challenges the community has set for their ambassadors. I started using the app few years ago and still learning. It’s a mobile app that anyone can use to create beautiful content without learning complex design software. I think by being open and willing to learn new things, it gives me a growth mindset.

Making a career in graphic design is challenging and exciting as it offers to be a part of various media and software platforms that I should have knowledge to operate. So I try to make it a point to explore all the graphic programs out there and utilize the features it has to offer so I don’t get too far behind when it comes to creative trends. I think graphic design is a progressive field and is high demand due to the increasing need for visual communication in various industries we see everyday, such as advertising, marketing, and media. All I know is that each person who masters themselves, and awakens their potential possesses an enormous power of staying creative.

Just want to leave this motivational quote to all the readers. This quote has been such a source of inspiration for me- “One sure fire way to stay creative is to force yourself to learn something new.”

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a graphic designer and small business owner. I specialize in digital and print design. I’ve had the pleasure of working using both mediums. My work has spanned from media broadcasting design for television to designing for high-end brands, prestigious firms, startups, non-profits, and small businesses.

As a graphic designer, this includes offering services. I use my artistic abilities and technical skills to create designs for digital and print use. I help my clients build and develop their brands, as well as provide them with all kinds of paper products, such as stationery, brochures, catalogs, flyers, business cards, and other printed materials used for personal and professional correspondence.

I have nearly two decades of experience crafting brands and bringing visions to life. I have dedicated years to this line of work and have shown commitment to the industry, my clients, and my company. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering in my community and sharing my creativity to others.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I’d say that the top three qualities or skills that have been most impactful in my journey are creativity, perseverance and resilience. There’s no denying I have struggles on my own. It was not a smooth road, but it was a learning and growing journey. Making the business grow is a challenge. I have to overcome my fears and occasional self-doubt because the design and print industry is a highly competitive business. There are so many talented designers that it is sometimes difficult to see where I fit in. Having to always be on the lookout for potential clients by joining vendor markets, actively networking, and making myself seen is the biggest obstacle. Potential clients are everywhere. The name of the game is having them see and choose you among all of the existing talent out there. Despite all of these obstacles, I have to stay on track and continue to learn to enjoy the process, trust God’s timing, and continue doing what I am passionate about.

My advice for those who’s early in their journey is to never stop dreaming. You can accomplish anything you set your heart and mind to. Start by focusing on one area first. Don’t wait for too long to allow yourself to take risks, embrace the unknown and capitalize on the opportunities to develop and learn the new things that change brings. Whether it’s taking on a big project that you may not feel fully qualified for, or changing career paths because your instincts tell you to do so. We must also never get too complacent, and to always give your best shot in everything you do. Lastly, celebrate your successes big and small. Because every small achievement, every personal accomplishment is an important step towards achieving your bigger personal goals.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

An ideal client for me is someone who will pay my services at a full rate. Someone who appreciates the time and efforts I put into a project. Someone who finds the perfect solution to their problems or needs in the services or products that my company provides. Lastly, someone who will be loyal to my company, frequently uses my services, and is likely to recommend me to their friends and colleagues.
