Meet Elecxus Ellis

We were lucky to catch up with Elecxus Ellis recently and have shared our conversation below.

Elecxus , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My strong work ethic comes from my mother. She had my brother and me at a young age, just 16 and 18, yet she never let that stop her from working hard to provide for us. Watching her persevere through challenges, stay committed to her goals, and always put in the effort to create a better life for us taught me the value of determination, resilience, and hard work. Her example continues to inspire me in my business and everything I do.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am Elecxus Ellis, the founder of Kofee Broz LLC, a business dedicated to bridging the gap where coffee meets education. My journey as an entrepreneur began when I was just 20 years old and a sophomore in college. I wanted to create more than just a coffee shop—I wanted to build a community space where people could connect, learn, and grow.

What makes Kofee Broz special is our commitment to both quality coffee and education. We offer free tutoring for kids every Thursday and Friday, ensuring that young students have the support they need to succeed academically. I believe that education is a powerful tool, and I’m passionate about using my platform to make a difference.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding our offerings and partnerships. We recently began collaborating with Wanna Spoon to bring fresh cookies and cinnamon rolls to our customers, and we’re exploring shipping options to meet growing demand. As we continue to grow, I’m excited about finding more ways to serve our community and make a lasting impact.

For me, Kofee Broz is more than a business—it’s a mission. I want people to walk into our space and feel inspired, whether they’re there for a great cup of coffee, academic support, or simply to be part of something bigger.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, and leadership. Resilience has been essential in pushing through challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt. Entrepreneurship isn’t always smooth, but viewing failures as learning experiences has helped me grow stronger and smarter. Adaptability has also played a major role, as the business world is constantly evolving. Being open to change, listening to customer needs, and adjusting to market trends have allowed me to keep Kofee Broz moving forward. Leadership, both in managing a team and setting a clear vision, has been another key factor. Running a business requires confidence in decision-making, inspiring others, and creating an environment where people feel motivated to succeed. For those early in their journey, I encourage embracing challenges, staying open to learning, and stepping outside of their comfort zones. Success comes from persistence, continuous growth, and the willingness to lead with purpose.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

One book that played an important role in my development is Leadership Not by the Book by David Green, the founder of Hobby Lobby. This book challenged traditional leadership ideas and reinforced the importance of leading with faith, purpose, and values rather than just focusing on profits or business norms.

One of the most impactful lessons from the book is the idea that business should be about serving people first—both employees and customers. Green emphasizes that when you prioritize people over profits, success naturally follows. This perspective has shaped how I run Kofee Broz, ensuring that we create a space that fosters community and education, not just sales.

Another valuable takeaway is the importance of trusting God in decision-making. Green discusses how he built Hobby Lobby by relying on faith rather than conventional business wisdom. This has resonated with me deeply, reminding me that sometimes, stepping out on faith and staying true to my mission is more important than following what the world says is “right” for business.

Lastly, the book highlights the power of generosity. Green’s commitment to giving back has inspired me to continue finding ways to serve my community, whether through free tutoring programs or collaborations that make a difference. His story is a reminder that true leadership is about impact, not just income.
