We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elena Denisova-Clark. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elena below.
Hi Elena, so excited to have you with us today and we are really interested in hearing your thoughts about how folks can develop their empathy? In our experience, most folks want to be empathic towards others, but in a world where we are often only surrounded by people who are very similar to us, it can sometimes be a challenge to develop empathy for others who might not be as similar to us. Any thoughts or advice?
I have the ability to recognize people with great talent who are more successful and advanced than me. Working with the best in an area of their expertise is something I am fortunate to have. I couldn’t have achieved what I did on my own, without my team supporting and inspiring me.
This made me a better version of myself and helped me develop empathy and love towards people with whom I want to share my work. My experience with my family, friends, collaborators, teachers, and independent creative contractors has been truly unique and I am grateful for it.
The ‘school of hard knocks’ allowed me to develop my empathy, where childhood and early life were all about survival, and because I’ve been there myself, I can relate to others with where they are and I would like to inspire, enthuse and educate others through my favorite mediums which are storytelling, film and music so not do only my audience feel heard, but they feel met emotionally.
I’d like to thank deeply for support my mentors Kenny Mammarella, Personal & Professional Development Consultant; Anthony Robert Grasso, on-camera teacher and the lead in my film; Eric Michael Gillett, my voice teacher, to name a few.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I was raised in Soviet Russia and I grew up in the Marxist society where people normally don’t have the stimulus to work harder than they do because they will not be rewarded for the extra effort. I was in my teens when that system collapsed, opening opportunities in the free market and economy. But I was astounded to see how many people failed to take those opportunities. They preferred to remain in a state of denial and jealousy. Inspired by my parents’ ability to adapt to new conditions, I became a believer of the importance of hard work and personal merits for success – as well as sharing it in exchange for rewards.
I moved to the United States with the intention of finding my own voice and expressing myself, while remaining true to my belief in the free market and economy. In the States, I’ve been able to strengthen my craft to become a powerful Russian stage actress, with the ability to access profoundly deep emotions.
My goal is to inform the world of what’s happening at this very moment in the makings of history, with elections, attempted assassinations, power-struggles and little thought for the people on the street. I feel that this is a sign of Marxism. My personal experience of living in a Marxist society is a gift I brought here, because history is repeating itself, literally as I write this – I feel the déjà vu in my beloved American home.
While under lockdown, I produced my inaugural award-winning film ‘Manifesto’, which reflects my past, the history of my country and the experience of my ancestors.
In 2021-2023, ‘Manifesto’ was received well and won a total of ten awards, including the ‘Best Female Actor in a Zoom Theatre Film’ in Manhattan Rep’s Stories Film Festival and ‘Silver Award- Actress’ award in the Hollywood Gold Awards Film Festival. The success of my first short led me to take it to the next level.
I am proud to be presenting ‘Marianne and the Rebels’ a short indie film that is based on the original award-winning story ‘Manifesto’. ‘Marianne and the Rebels’ was adapted by Pierre Guy and Elena D Clark in 2023, and produced by EDC WORLD Inc. in 2024. The short film is currently in the post-production phase.
To open the film to the world, we’ve launched a fundraising campaign. Link www.kickstarter.com/projects/379333650/1985555381/edit/preview?ref=project_build
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. I read and listen to my favorite books and podcasts to help me invest better and create a positive cash flow to grow my wealth. I express my gratitude to the authors and content creators who inspire me, such as Robert and Kim Kiyosaki, Jason Hartman, George Gammon, and Rebel Capitalist Pro to name a few. With their help, I learn how to live financially free life.
2. Acting training. When I immigrated to the United States, I felt a deep need to find my own voice and express myself. I am a woman with a big history of success, tragedy and success again like a Phoenix rising from the ashes and with this I can go on screen and I can act. I can be very scary. I can be sinister. I can be vulnerable and draw from the depth of my heart, soul, and experience. I’ve found that I can make an audience laugh, cry, and willingly eat out of the palm of my hand, leaving them hungry for more.
3. The state of being loving and humble. I experienced being completely broke after having a lot of money. I have learned to be humble and manage this rocky financial road – that can be paved with gold, that can also have hidden shadows and that can be a life teacher – with love and gratitude. Thanks to my parents and my entire Russian and American family and friends for being my support during the hardest times.
My advice for youngsters is to find their voice and path regardless of what anyone else has said and believe in themselves for financial, emotional, and creative stability, so that you can fly and be as creative as your heart’s calling. Your dreams can become a reality and your message can be heard.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m hoping to be discovered by a significant TV show so that I can play the often difficult role of the bad woman, the sad woman, the powerful woman, or a weak woman who can show her shadow side. I can surprise an audience and keep them captivated and coming back for more as I let them truly see me in both extremes of emotions and share the journey of everything in between.
I can explore the depths of emotions within me and express them to the audience because I love having a curve ball thrown at me as my character gets developed and interacts with other characters. I will anticipate the storyline to unfold and become a meaningful, touching story for the audience, not just another boring standard show that makes a lot of noise but doesn’t quite touch the sides.
My past experience helps me overcome challenges, and I am aware of my emotional range on stage and in front of the camera. I am interested in working on TV shows such as ‘Law and Order’, ‘SVU’ ‘The FBIs’, to name a few, please make contact – I’d love to hear from you and share my showreel!
