Meet Elena Nordé

We were lucky to catch up with Elena Nordé recently and have shared our conversation below.

Elena, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding one’s purpose in life is a crucial and often daunting task. For me, the journey towards discovering my purpose followed a unique path that was rooted in my passions and interests. I have always been drawn towards music, creativity, and spreading happiness to others. These individual passions have played an essential role in giving me a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in life.

As I delved deeper into each of these individual pursuits, I began to realize that they all shared a common thread – the desire to create something that would bring a smile to people’s faces. Music, for me, was a means to express emotions and connect with others in a way that few things can. Similarly, art and design gave me the opportunity to take my creativity to new heights and create something that was not only visually appealing but also evoked a sense of joy in people.

It is in this context that the idea for my brand, Where’s Chloe Dog, was born. This brand allowed me to combine my passion for music, art, and people into a single entity that would allow me to create something that I was proud of and that brought happiness and joy to others. The Where’s Chloe Dog brand is a reflection of who I am as a person and what I stand for – creativity, happiness, inclusion and positivity.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
At a young age I discovered my passion for the music and entertainment industry. At the age of just 14, I began pursuing a professional career in this field, and my hard work and dedication paid off when I released my first independent single globally in 2007, followed by my album “Still in the Love.”

Shortly after, I also began to film commercials and work behind the scenes doing voice over and writing scripts and treatments for radio and commercial spots.

While I enjoyed the excitement of the industry and the thrill of creating music and entertainment, I soon became disillusioned with the politics and instability that were all too common in this line of work. I began to feel that my true passion lay not just in music and songwriting, but in the creation and bringing to life of new and exciting ideas.

It was during this period that I transitioned from the world of music and entertainment to the corporate world. Here, I found that my passion for people and my desire to see everyone feel valued and included could also be applied. I created an employee resource group focused on the support and advancement of black employees at my company, where I soon realized that my passions extended far beyond just one specific group of people.

Despite enjoying some measure of success in my new role, the creative itch in me never went away. Then one day, while looking at my miniature schnauzer named Chloe, I was struck with inspiration to write a children’s book.

As I grew older, I often thought about how I wished I had learned another language at a young age, so I decided to make my book bilingual. By doing so, I hoped to teach young children and their parents common words and terms in both English and Spanish.

After publishing the book, to my surprise, I was met with unexpected levels of success. I started to think of creative ways to market my book which led me to writing bilingual, fun, and catchy songs based on the book. This marked the birth of the Where’s Chloe Dog brand.

Where’s Chloe Dog was created as a means of celebrating diversity and inclusion through engaging bilingual resources for both kids and adults. I created additional books and songs which I shared on YouTube, garnering over 4,000 subscribers in just one month along with over 300,000 views – and counting.

What began as a simple idea born out of a love for people and fostering inclusivity has now evolved into a thriving brand with a growing fan base that spans the globe. As I continue to chart my course, I am excited to see where this journey takes me, confident in the knowledge that the driving force behind Where’s Chloe Dog is one of positivity, inclusivity, and joy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back at my journey, I believe the three qualities that were most impactful in my success were determination, passion and resilience. Determination was important because it helped me push through difficult times when I felt like giving up. I knew that if I kept pushing, eventually I would reach my goals. Passion was also essential because it kept me motivated. When you truly love what you’re doing, it doesn’t feel like work. It’s easier to put in the long hours and make sacrifices when you’re passionate about something. Lastly, resilience was vital because I faced many setbacks and failures along the way. However, I refused to let those setbacks define me. Instead, I learned from them and used them as motivation to keep going.

For those who are early in their journey, I would advise them to focus on developing these same qualities. Develop a sense of determination that can sustain you through the trials and tribulations of pursuing your dreams. Cultivate a deep passion for what you’re doing so that you can always stay motivated even when the going gets tough. And most importantly, develop resilience so that you can overcome failures and setbacks. Additionally, it’s important to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who support your dreams and will encourage you when you need it. Finally, seek out mentorship and learning opportunities that will help you improve your skills and knowledge in your chosen field. With determination, passion, and resilience, combined with a supportive community and a growth mindset, anyone can achieve their dreams and find success in their journey.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The book that has played an instrumental role in my personal development is The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. This book has helped me understand the immense power that our thoughts and words hold. Its main principle revolves around the Law of Attraction, which states that we attract whatever we focus our minds on, whether positive or negative. This concept completely transformed my life and changed the way I perceive the world around me.

After reading The Secret, I realized that my thoughts and beliefs directly impact the reality I experience. I learned the importance of focusing on gratitude and positivity. The book taught me to appreciate the present moment and find beauty in every situation. I also learned the power of visualization and how to use it to manifest my desires. Rather than dwelling on my problems, I learnt to shift my attention towards what I want to accomplish and visualize myself achieving it.

Another book by Rhonda Byrne, The Magic, further strengthened my belief in the power of gratitude. It is an exceptional guide that teaches us the art of being thankful and appreciating everything that life brings to us. Alongside with The Secret, The Magic became a daily source of inspiration that encouraged me to practice gratitude rituals every morning.

Thanks to these books, I became a more positive, contented, and mindful person. My mindset and perspective on life have shifted, and I am now more focused and confident in achieving my goals. I have learned to attract abundance in my life, and my relationships have improved drastically. The Secret and The Magic are two books that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to improve their life physically, mentally, and emotionally.
