Meet Elia Paulina González

We were lucky to catch up with Elia Paulina González recently and have shared our conversation below.

Elia Paulina, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
Mi key is: confidence, vulnerability and a strong support network.

Because as a woman in the business and entrepreneurial field, facing “machismo” and misogynistic obstacles is something that cannot be faced alone.

Maintaining a path of preparation and professional knowledge has allowed me to develop confidence in what I do and I how I do it. Accepting vulnerability has allowed me to improve my interventions, my role in teamwork and it has given me the opportunity to ask for help help in difficult situations.

Everyone needs a support network, everyone. because it has an impact in emotional and mental health, is one more way of showing ourselves that we are human and that we need encouragement, feedback and sometimes confrontation from others.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I, together with wonderful people, managed to transform the privilege of some into opportunities for others.
This is absolutely special.

In “Mind it!” we provided mental health and gender perspective workshops for companies, as well as psychotherapy treatment. Financing these activities allows us to create magic by giving free psychological treatment to women victims or survivor of gender violence who live in shelters in the city of Tijuana.

It is exciting to create community with companies that are interested in joining this social cause, but also with those that aren´t but end up contributing anyway, because they allow us to work with their employees, end sexual harassment, lose their fear of talking about GBV and create protocols that allow them to join together to create safe spaces for women in inclusion with men, so that everyone can fit in and work with peace.

What do you need to know about our brand?
That we measure what matters: each impact, each emotion, in order to work together with companies under a precise and consistent diagnosis that includes fun, a sense of community and giveaways…everyone loves giveaways and so do we.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Knowing the term “sisterhood” opened my mind, hope and brought me a lot of support, but above all opportunities for alliances and friendships. Because through the consistent practice of this, I’ve also met women in leadership positions willing to team up to end GBV.

My advice: creativity and authenticity, I know it sounds difficult but it is the key to face barriers and live in harmony with your person and your values. And always always: keep your mentor close! this helps to strengthen strategies, alliances and creates a profitable and social business.

And to find your authenticity: therapy, always therapy. This is the path you get to know yourself, practice self-love and embrace your story.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Everyone can contribute to this cause:

1. If you have a platform in which we can share information for the care, detection and elimination of GBV
2. If you can introduce us to someone with whom we can share our knowledge to end sexual harassment or GBV (congresses, panels, influencers, news, radio, etc).
3. If you work for a company and are interested in addressing these issues
4. Or if you know any programs in which we can participate
5. Also: f it’s none of the above but you have an idea or would like to chat with me to see how to collaborate, everyone is welcome.

All the people who help us put ourselves “in the spotlight” to reach the companies or media have an important place in our hearts and in our company, that is why we invite you to meet the community leaders who make possible the work from our non profit.
