Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elisa Altini. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Elisa, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my upbringing in a family of entrepreneurs. Both of my grandfathers moved to America with the vision of building something from the ground up… my dad’s father started a business that not only provided for his family but also set the foundation for future generations. My dad grew up working alongside him, learning the ins and outs of running a business from a very young age. When my grandfather passed, my dad took over the business and continued to build on what he had started. Seeing my dad’s dedication, resilience, and drive firsthand has taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and always striving to improve. Watching their dedication and hard work shaped my own drive.
Inspired by that legacy, I started my first business at 21 years old, while completing my bachelor’s degree. I began by reselling clothing from larger labels online, but quickly saw an opportunity to branch out. This led me to design and launch my very own swimwear label, which gave me hands-on experience in everything from product development to marketing. The entrepreneurial spirit I witnessed growing up has been a driving force in everything I do, and it continues to inspire me to push forward and innovate.
I’ve also always had a deep love for photography, and it’s been a hobby of mine since I was young. I’ve always been fascinated by the way a single image can tell a story, capture a moment, or convey emotion. As I grew, I started incorporating photography into my business by taking photos of my swimwear models for my website. For years, I honed my skills, learning how to use lighting, composition, and styling to bring my vision to life through the lens.
Recently, I realized that photography wasn’t just a passion—it was something I wanted to pursue full-time. After years of using it to complement my business, I decided to take the leap and make photography my career. It feels like a natural evolution, and I’m excited to fully immerse myself in it, combining my entrepreneurial mindset with my creative side to explore new opportunities and capture moments that resonate with others.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My love for photography is rooted in a simple yet powerful desire: to capture fleeting, candid moments that people want to remember for a lifetime.
I work with both film and digital cameras, but there’s something uniquely profound about how film captures light and emotion. It challenges me to slow down, to be more deliberate with every shot, and to truly connect with the moment. That’s the kind of photography I believe in—thoughtful, intentional, and timeless. While digital photography may dominate the scene today, I’m proud to still offer film as an option for those who appreciate its depth and character.
Through my lens, I aim to preserve memories in a way that feels personal and authentic to each individual client, telling their story in a way that’s uniquely theirs.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, and creativity.
Resilience has been key in both my business ventures and my photography career. There were plenty of moments when things didn’t go as planned, and setbacks felt discouraging. But it was the ability to push through, stay focused, and keep learning from mistakes that kept me going. For those early in their journey, my advice is to embrace failure as part of the process. Every challenge offers an opportunity to grow, so stay persistent and learn from each experience.
Adaptability has also been crucial. Whether it was transitioning from reselling clothes to designing my own swimwear or shifting from film to digital photography (or simply adding that to my offerings), being able to adjust to new opportunities and evolving markets has helped me stay relevant. The world is always changing, and the more flexible you are, the better you’ll be at navigating those changes.
Finally, creativity has been at the heart of everything I do, from designing swimwear to capturing images with my camera. It’s important to nurture that creative spark, whether it’s through brainstorming, experimenting, or simply taking time to explore different ideas. My advice is to set aside time for creativity every day—whether that’s through sketching, writing, photography, or whatever else sparks your imagination. Creativity thrives when it’s nurtured and allowed to flow freely.
For anyone just starting out, focus on developing these qualities and don’t rush the process. Take your time, stay committed, and allow yourself room to evolve. Your journey will be uniquely yours, and each step along the way will bring you closer to where you want to be.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is someone who values authentic, yet beautiful photos that tell a story and capture real moments. They would appreciate my experience working with both film and digital photography, and my ability to create a unique atmosphere and aesthetic with my work.
These clients would also be drawn to my artistic eye, professionalism, and ability to bring their vision to life. Additionally, individuals who would value my thoughtful approach and the timeless, authentic style I bring to my work.
