Meet Elise Mears

We recently connected with Elise Mears and have shared our conversation below.

Elise, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

I keep my creativity alive by staying curious and exposing myself to new ideas outside of modeling. I find inspiration in art, fashion, travel, and even everyday people—it helps me bring fresh energy into each project. I also like to challenge myself with different types of shoots and concepts, because stepping outside my comfort zone keeps the work exciting. Creativity really thrives when you’re open, observant, and willing to experiment, so I make sure to carry that mindset into everything I do.

Even within modeling. not every job is super creative, I spend a lot of my time shooting “front back side” over and over. Therefore, when I feel drained or not as creative I always try to remind myself why I started modeling—because I fell in love with the creative side of it. Telling stories through little photoshoots with my friends in high school and creating self portraits. I’m so blessed to have so many people I can call my close friends in this industry and that’s what makes the difference for me. Having those relatable conversations over coffee, or the endless test shoots. Those little things mean so much to me and it keeps me grounded in this wild industry.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My journey into modeling started with my passion for fashion and simply multiple people encouraging me to take it seriously. Over time, I’ve realized it’s more than just taking photos or walking a runway—it’s about telling a story and bringing a brand’s vision to life. I think a lot people get it twisted and think modeling is all about them, but it’s more about being adaptable to each of your clients and executing their vision. As a professional model, I work across commercial, fashion, lifestyle, and e-commerce. I get the opportunity to collaborate with creative teams to translate their ideas into visuals that connect with people. What I really enjoy is the mix of creativity and professionalism the industry requires—whether it’s adapting to different styles, understanding how to embody a brand’s identity, or maintaining the discipline it takes to stay consistent. Modeling has also given me the chance to build relationships in the fashion world and grow personally, learning how to carry myself with confidence and flexibility no matter the environment. I’m grateful for all of my agents and clients I’ve gotten to work with because they’ve helped shape my brand, and this is only the beginning,

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three of the most important skills I’ve developed through modeling are resilience, flexibility, and strong social skills.

Resilience is essential because the industry comes with a lot of rejection, long hours, and high expectations—you learn how to take feedback without taking it personally and keep pushing forward.
Flexibility is equally important, both physically and mentally. Every job is different, whether it’s adjusting to a new creative direction on the spot, working in unpredictable environments, or switching between styles and brands. Being adaptable allows me to deliver what’s needed in any situation.
And finally, social and communication skills are key. Modeling is a very collaborative field—I’m constantly working with photographers, stylists, makeup artists, and clients. Being able to connect quickly, understand direction, and contribute to a positive atmosphere not only makes the job smoother but often leads to long-term relationships and repeat opportunities.

Most models are often thrown into this industry really quickly, so you’re kinda forced to pick up on these skills and then it becomes easier. But, for those just starting out, the best advice I can give is to always show up and stay consistent, that’s how you will learn.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was instill a strong work ethic and professionalism. From a young age, they taught me that showing up prepared, respectful, and consistent would open doors no matter what career I pursued. That’s been especially valuable in modeling, where reliability and attitude are just as important as the look. Because of them, I approach every job with the mindset that I’m part of a team, and that professionalism is what creates long-term opportunities. They have also taught me the value of perseverance and believing in myself. They always reminded me that setbacks are part of the process, and that if I stayed focused and consistent, I could reach my goals. That mindset has carried me through modeling—because in this industry, you hear a lot of ‘no’s. Knowing that I have that foundation of support and resilience from them gives me confidence to keep going and create opportunities for myself. They are my rock (and shoutout E, he’s my rock too).

One of my favorite verses—Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it”.
