Meet Elisha Akram

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elisha Akram. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Elisha , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by carving out time to meditate and reflect on the things that bring me joy. Whether it’s walking, reading, or even doing chores, I find that during these moments of mindfulness and daydreaming, ideas and inspiration naturally flow. It’s in these simple, everyday activities that I’m able to reconnect with what excites me and sparks my imagination, helping me stay grounded and creatively fulfilled

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m Elisha Akram, the creative mind behind Kustom Kreation Photography, based in Atlanta. My passion lies in capturing life’s special moments and helping small business owners build a strong visual presence through high-quality photography. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of photographing countless special events, family gatherings, branding sessions, and lifestyle shoots, creating timeless memories for my clients.

What sets Kustom Kreation Photography apart is the personalized touch I bring to every project. I strive to go beyond simply taking photos—I aim to tell a story, highlight the unique personality of my clients, and help them connect with their audience or cherish moments with loved ones.

Currently, I’m expanding my services to include photo-based events, such as monthly ‘Headshot Hangout’ sessions and themed photography experiences at Ponce City Market. These events are designed to make professional photography accessible and fun, while allowing clients to walk away with images that truly represent them.

Additionally, I’ve started incorporating teaching and coaching into my brand. I offer tips, eBooks, and guidance on special event photography and entrepreneurship, sharing low-cost strategies for starting and marketing a business. My goal is to inspire others to take their creative dreams to the next level while capturing moments that matter.

If you’re looking for photography services that are thoughtful, professional, and tailored to your needs—or you want to learn how to turn your passion into a business—I’d love to connect with you!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities and skills in my journey have been adaptability, relationship-building, and continuous learning.

Adaptability has been key in navigating the ever-changing landscape of photography and entrepreneurship. Whether it’s learning new technologies, pivoting services to meet client needs, or adjusting to unexpected challenges, being flexible has allowed me to grow and remain relevant. My advice? Embrace change, experiment with new ideas, and see challenges as opportunities for growth.

Relationship-building has played a huge role in my success. Creating strong connections with clients and collaborators has not only built trust but also led to repeat business and word-of-mouth referrals. For those starting out, focus on providing value to others, listen to their needs, and always show genuine care. People remember how you make them feel, and building a network of supportive relationships will carry you far.

Finally, continuous learning has been essential. Whether it’s improving my craft through workshops, staying updated on industry trends, or learning business strategies, staying curious and committed to personal development has been a game-changer. My advice is to invest in yourself—take courses, read books, and seek mentors who can help you grow both personally and professionally.

For anyone just starting their journey, I’d say focus on these areas and remember that growth is a process. Be patient with yourself, stay open to learning, and surround yourself with people who inspire and support you.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was allowing me to be myself. From a young age, I’ve always had a creative spirit, and both my mom and dad made it a priority to nurture and support that side of me. They found ways to encourage my creativity, whether it was through activities, resources, or simply cheering me on in everything I pursued.

As I recently lost my mother, this question holds a special place in my heart. She was a creative soul herself, and her influence shaped so much of who I am today. Answering this question feels like a beautiful way to honor her memory and keep her spirit alive.

I’m deeply grateful to both of my parents for their unwavering support. They gave me the freedom to explore my passions, and that foundation has been invaluable in my journey.
