We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Elizabeth Andarge a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Elizabeth, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
During my childhood, not having any siblings made interacting with other kids a bit challenging for me. I often felt self-conscious about starting conversations because I believed my social skills weren’t as developed as I wished. To cope with this, I found solace in spending long hours playing alone in my closet.
Interestingly, as I went to school, my peers began to notice and appreciate my personal style, often approaching me with compliments. These unexpected gestures of admiration resonated deeply with me. They underscored the fact that despite any financial constraints I might have faced, I possessed the ability to make the most of what was available to me.
In retrospect, these instances of positive acknowledgment gradually contributed to the strengthening of my self-assurance. The realization that I could thrive creatively and expressively, irrespective of limited resources, fostered a growing sense of self-worth. This journey from self-consciousness to self-confidence taught me that authenticity and resilience are powerful catalysts for nurturing one’s confidence and self-esteem.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Ah, the Take It Off: Fashion Podcast – my pride, joy, and latest obsession. I’m on a mission to tackle life’s most stylish enigmas, like: Can you rock the feminine look and still be taken seriously in the corporate world? Who should foot the bill for fashion’s eco-makeover? Oh, and let’s not forget how trends spill secrets about the world we’re strutting in!
One episode that still resonates with me is with Vogue Fashion Photographer, Raul Tovar. We talked about how the #MeToo movement changed the fashion photography industry for good. https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/takititoffshow/episodes/How-to-Create-a-Legacy-With-Your-Photos-e20aekg/a-a9ftpkb
But hey, it’s not all serious talk. I’ve walked the red carpet with actors like Janelle Monáe, Miles Teller, and MGK, etc. Are you sick of the name-dropping yet? Good me too.
Moving right along, drumroll, please…
I’m stirring up some Southern-style magic! Yep, a Southern Speakeasy fashion show in Savannah that blends history and haute couture. It’s a wild fusion of tradition and modern flair, shining a spotlight on our local fashion designers. There’ll be live music, great food, all that’s really missing is you.
Don’t be fashionably late to this party! Tickets? Right below. Front-row seats? Yours for the taking.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Embracing a fearless attitude toward failure has been pivotal. Fail fast, fail often, and fail spectacularly. Only by pushing boundaries and not fearing failure can you truly uncover your potential.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Are you tired of fitting into fashion molds? If you’re all about embracing your authentic self and encouraging others to do the same, let’s join forces. You can connect with me through smoke signals – okay, just kidding, drop me an email or slide into my DMs if you’re ready to rock the boat. https://linktr.ee/takeitoff
