Meet Elizabeth Anderson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elizabeth Anderson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elizabeth below.

Hi Elizabeth , thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout

I feel so fortunate to have found my passion in my mid-3o’s. The more I learn about esthetics and the more people I treat, the more fulfilled I get. Attending a training class or reading about new products or services really gets me excited. Learning is how I avoid professional burnout.

The other side of burnout is emotional. I feed off the emotions of my patients. This can be a positive thing. I see a lot of people that are getting ready for weddings and graduations and vacations so their happiness can really fill me up. Unfortunately, sometimes I hear about the death of a loved one or the end of a relationship and it is hard not to take on that negative energy. At the end of an emotionally draining day, I really look forward to my long drive home. While a lot of people don’t like a long commute, I use that time to listen to a book or podcast to reset my mood. The “reset” time in the car is helpful. I used to have a 7 min drive home and it was hard to switch gears from work to home – I definitely do not have this issue now.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

What I am most excited about is body contouring. I started treating patients with CoolSculpting in 2014 and without being dramatic, it changed my life. I was able to permanently make positive changes to people’s bodies without downtime, surgery and downtime. I changed my own body! Gone was my c-section pouch! And the double chin that is hereditary is gone!

In 2023 I made the jump from employee to business owner. My main focus is CoolSculpting for fat reduction and CoolTone for muscle stimulation. I love having both of these tools at my fingertips to help men and women feel confident. That initial excitement about CoolSculpting that I felt 10 years ago has not lessened, in fact I am more excited and passionate now that I am an expert.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I think the most important quality is curiosity. I love to learn. I want to know more, more about just about everything! I can probably be as annoying as a toddler when at a training as I have so many questions. Anytime there is an advanced training on anything related to esthetics, I do my best to attend. This year I have attended classes in California and Miami!

The second important quality is having passion about your work. People can tell if someone is passionate about a subject. My best advice to anyone starting out in esthetics is to be passionate. You don’t have to know everything about everything but passion is felt by everyone you touch.

The third most important quality is follow through. Having amazing ideas is great but if you don’t follow up with action then all that enthusiasm is wasted.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

When I think back over my years in esthetics and who has helped me grow, the list is long! When I was new to esthetics, I worked for a very busy day spa. I learned a lot about timing as we always had big groups of people and it was important that our guests were starting and ending their appointments on time so they would be ready for their next service. My next job was at a medspa and I learned a lot about the business side of things like marketing and inventory management. I worked for a large established medspa that had a huge staff, so I was able to learn how to manage and motivate a team. I worked for a start up medical office and I learned a lot about what goes into a opening a new business. I took bits of knowledge from all these experiences to help create the business that I have now. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without some of these experiences, the good and the not so good!
