We recently connected with Elizabeth Boone and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth , thanks for sitting with us today to chat about topics that are relevant to so many. One of those topics is communication skills, because we live in an age where our ability to communicate effectively can be like a superpower. Can you share how you developed your ability to communicate well?
I spent 10 years competing in this wonderful activity called Speech. It cultivated my acting, communication, writing and memorization skills. Beyond, it had a profound impact on the person I am today. I saw performances that enlightened me and changed my perspective. I had the opportunity to meet individuals that I can still call on. The activity made me believe that what I had to say was important and also had the ability to enlighten and change perspectives. Today, I actually coach speech because I want provide the same experience to students.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m originally from Grand Prairie, TX, and from a young age, I’ve always loved to write, draw, and perform. I was definitely that girl who choreographed dances for my cousins and made them perform in front of the family at every gathering. Acting and music are the reasons I moved to LA, and they’re still at the heart of my creative journey. I’m currently working on writing and recording an album, blending my love for music with personal experiences. When I’m not in the studio, I’m drawing anime and animated characters, always finding new ways to express my creativity.
I’m also a space nerd with a lot of astrophysics facts stored up—just one of my many interests that fuels my curiosity and sense of wonder. I’ve been fortunate to work on shows like The Ellen Show and The Jennifer Hudson Show, where I learned firsthand how media can connect, entertain, and inspire people.
As a proud Black woman, I’m passionate about using my platform to amplify underrepresented voices. I believe deeply in the power of storytelling to create change, and my mission is to craft content that not only entertains but also resonates with diverse audiences, particularly people of color.
I graduated with a B.S. in Public Relations from the esteemed Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin, where I also earned a Real Estate Certificate from the McCombs School of Business. I’ve taken on various roles in the entertainment industry—actor, associate producer, writer, and writer’s assistant—and now, I continue to pursue my passions while working on projects that allow me to combine my creative and strategic skills.
Ultimately, I’m on a journey to evolve as a storyteller, always seeking new ways to connect with audiences and bring impactful, diverse stories to life.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1) Since I first heard it in a song, the quote “if you believe, then you can achieve” has lifted me up in my lowest moments and further elevated me at my highest.
2) I don’t give up. I don’t lay down. I come from a long line of people who are the same, and that has impacted me immensely. I can’t lie, uprooting my entire life and moving to LA from Texas was an absolute beast. If I’d given up at just one obstacle, I wouldn’t be here today. That move was painful, but it made me stronger; it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I use it as a monicker for how much I can handle today. For this reason, I encourage people who are early in their journey to keep pushing. Things may be difficult, but they’ll only make you stronger and able to withstand pressures while on the pursuit to something greater.
3) Never stop learning. You can always improve, you can always get better, you can always elevate. I look at myself and my art as a constant work in progress. There’s so many people who want the same thing as you, and that can be extremely intimidating, so all you can do possibly edge them out is grow.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m looking for fellow songwriters who want to share wisdom and write bomb music. I’m also on the hunt for music producers and vocal producers who specialize in pop and more urban-pop like in SZA and Tinashe’s music. You can contact me via instagram – izzy_michele.

so if you or someone you know deserves recognition please let us know here.
