We recently connected with Elizabeth Brownrigg and have shared our conversation below.
Elizabeth, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
I’ help successful women recovering from toxic relationships who have accomplished a lot but are feeling burned out and broken reclaim their femininity. I met this woman in the mirror a few years ago, but I’d seen her for decades. I noticed that she had a lot going for her, yet much of her conversation was about her patterns of toxic relationships and how she wanted to end that permanently and feel whole again on all levels.
As a result, I changed her. I started implementing daily spiritual practices into my life first thing: meditation, affirmations, stretches, oracle cards, and prayer. I got consistent about eating healthfully. I became very aware of my mindset throughout the day, and worked diligently to shift it. I discovered a much deeper connection to myself and spirit as I started the journey of reclaiming my divine feminine essence. And the key was putting myself first every day in this way.
That was over 11 years ago, and now I’m passionate about helping others do the same because I see how empowering, life-changing and transformative taking care of yourself body, mind and spirit truly is. And, I just created a 1:1 course to help others do the same, Metaphysical Makeover: Come Home to Yourself, a 30-Day Rapid Results Healing Package.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a clairvoyant astrologer, and I made a living as a multidisciplinary artist in New York and San Francisco for over 20 years, all the while holding a a vision in my heart of someday having a place where people could come make art, spend time in nature, heal and rejuvenate.
In 2012, I opened a rural retreat center in northern New Mexico. This magical state, with all its art, spirituality, and incredible light, drew me to buy property in Carson, just outside of Taos. I built my own solar adobe home, and then was fortunate enough to buy several neighboring houses over a few years that were in need of major makeovers. What was supposed to be a small art retreat center for 10 became a much larger place for all types of events and now sleeps up to 30!
People cherish it here because it’s so serene and so rural. And also very homey and private. On 45 acres of land, we’re deep in the forest yet very close to the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument as well as most of northern New Mexico’s points of interest. The heritage of the ancient Native culture and the expansiveness of the land and sky create a sense of grounded spirituality. The sound of the wind blowing through the pines and the sweet smell of sage is intoxicating. The nearby mountains provide an incredible backdrop.
As an artist/designer, healing arts practitioner and nature lover, my vision has long been to create a sanctuary in this incredible land for like-minded individuals. It is truly an oasis in the high desert and a haven for artists and healers who have been hosting retreats here for years.
I also plan to host some of my own retreats here as well in the near future. I love helping accomplished women recovering from toxic relationships reignite their hearts and reconnect with their femininity through metaphysical and creative practices so they can feel whole, sexy and empowered again. I also provide direction through my clairvoyant and astrology readings, and I’m about to launch one of my 30-day intensive Metaphysical Makeovers: Come Home to Yourself.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
VISION: If you have an idea that excites you, don’t worry about the HOW, just stay gently focused on the WHAT, and allow it to grow and morph. For example: for 15 years before I was able to move to NM, (but I had my land), I would imagine people there at staying at my house, (that I hadn’t yet built), making art. As it turned out, I now have retreat center, Vista Verde Retreat, which is nearby but separate from where I live, serves a much larger demographic, and is a lot bigger than I ever envisioned.
PASSION: You have to be excited about what you’re doing, and detached at the same time. This is really about that steady, warm flame that guides your next step because it makes your heart swell, even if it’s just a micron at times. Passion is what magnetizes your vision to you, yet, if you put too much importance on it, you push it away. Recently heard this quote: “When desire has the energy of resistance, it commands the field to withhold,” (the “field” meaning the divine, God, etc).
PERSEVERANCE: Keep following your heart. Break things down into manageable steps. Put one foot in front of the other. Stay out of discouragement. Get plenty of support. Set yourself up for success.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am absolutely looking for women, (and men), interested in collaborating to put on women’s wellness retreats, predominantly focused on spiritual and creative retreats. I have the retreat center in northern New Mexico, Vista Verde Retreat, and I’d love to have a conversation:
