Meet Elizabeth Emmanuel

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elizabeth Emmanuel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Elizabeth , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My confidence and self-esteem developed through encountering difficult situations. Even if I did not always win or the circumstance did not always turn out in my favor, the fact that I was willing to encounter the situation in the first place allowed me to become confident in my own abilities and talents. Also, a strong belief in God and what He has enabled me to do has also strengthened and developed my confidence and self-esteem.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Elizabeth Emmanuel and I am a Judge with the Fulton County Magistrate Court. I have served on this amazing Court since 2020 and am now in my second term. I preside over civil and criminal cases, issue search and arrest warrants and perform weddings just to name a few of the varied and diverse duties of a judge serving on the busiest trial court in the State of Georgia. Our Court handles over 80,000 cases per year. Prior to becoming a judge, I was a Corporate Litigation Attorney with an international law firm in Atlanta, Georgia and a senior prosecutor with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. On the bench, I seek to resolve legal issues fairly, impartially and treat everyone who appears before me with courtesy and respect. You can also find me volunteering as a mock trial judge with various youth focused organizations and encouraging those incarcerated. I am an avid runner and fitness fan. I firmly believe that through purposeful faith and positive focus, you can achieve all that you set out to do.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey are as follows: 1. Find your passion and pursue it, while we all may not have the same gift and talents, the thing that makes you uniquely you should be fostered so that it can flourish.

2. Don’t be afraid to tell your story, with all its failures, challenges, and setbacks. The person that you may end up encouraging may be yourself.

3. Ask for help when you need it – you can’t be great if you don’t seek out greatness.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth in the past year has been in patience. Through the uncertainty of the pandemic and not knowing how this world changing event would effect life as we knew it, being patient in the storm and relying on God to led me through has caused me to grow in ways that I could not have ever imagined.
