We were lucky to catch up with Elizabeth Enriquez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Elizabeth with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I definitely believe I gained my work ethic by the way I was raised. Growing up my dad worked 2 jobs. Since I was young I helped him cut grass until I finally graduated high school and joined the navy. Even though I don’t cut grass anymore, it taught me so much about how to work, and I have been able to bring that work ethic into the engineering field of the navy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Although I am active duty, I just recently gained my esthetician license & started up my own business. I decided to get my education because I refused to deploy away from my daughter. My heart could not handle it, NO WAY. I had spent my early pregnancy thinking about what I was passionate about, and how could I make that a career. While I was in esthetics school I was halfway through my pregnancy. I was in and out of the hospital, so many preterm labor scares. I pushed so hard because I wanted to finish and still graduate on time. I went into labor on Easter, and gave birth a few days later. The day I was discharged from the hospital I still went to school as usual so I only missed 2 days. I passed school on time, gained my license and im now enrolled in the NCEA Master Esthetician Program. I am going to be launching retail skin care as well as shirts and skin care tools very soon! Esthetics, more specifically skin is what im most passionate about. Bringing others the confidence to embrace their NATURAL beauty is what I live for. I specialize in corrective & advance skin care treatments, but I also do keratin lashes & sugar/hard wax.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
3 skills that have paved the way for me are my work ethic, my resilience, and my positive attitude. I could’ve sat around and moped about how hard pregnancy was, how I was alone and my husband was deployed but I pushed through. Some advice I would give is to keep pushing no matter what. Even if it hurts, keep your eye on the prize because the pain you feel now doesn’t compare to the joy that comes tomorrow.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
I am my ideal client. It sounds crazy to say out loud but I would love to be respected the way I respect others. Showing up on time, a chill vibe, a comfortable client. One who asks questions to learn more, but also trusts that I am fully capable of doing my job.
