Meet Elizabeth Idem-Ido

We recently connected with Elizabeth Idem-Ido and have shared our conversation below.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am trained Nigerian lawyer with a niche practice experience in IT and Technology Law. I’m fueled by my enthusiasm for innovation and design.

As a creative and entrepreneur at heart, I founded MMABON’ Custom and Retail, a T-shirt brand that’s on a mission to make everyday fashion more personal (customizable) and unique for families, brands, and communities.

I am however embarking on an exciting career transition into legal design and technology, where I’ll apply my unique blend of legal expertise and design skills to transform the Nigerian legal sector. My goal is to harness technology and design thinking to enhance the sector’s efficiency, accessibility, and user experience.

While the details are still confidential until my official announcement, I’m eager to pioneer this new frontier in legal innovation and make a positive impact on the legal system.

Elizabeth, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Finding my purpose has been a journey, and it’s something that I’m still refining and exploring.

What truly drives me is the desire to go all out and create something truly exceptional. I believe that everything should be designed to be an experience, not just a mere existence. I believe that good design has the power to elevate the ordinary into something extraordinary. Design isn’t just aesthetic or the ‘what’, it can be the ‘how’, the ‘why’ or the ‘where’.

At the heart of everything I do is a design-led core purpose: to improve the way people experience their everyday lives. I’m passionate about harnessing the power of design to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Whether it’s through a thoughtfully designed product, a solution, or an innovative approach to a everyday problem, I believe that good design can transform the way we live, work, and interact with each other.

What gets me out of bed every morning is the knowledge that I’m living my purpose and making a difference in some small, yet “re-designed”way. I’m not just going through the motions; I’m intentionally designing my life and work to make a positive impact. And that’s what gives me the absolute buzz – the thrill of creating something new, something better, and something that makes a difference in people’s lives.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

  1. Resilience: The ability to bounce back from challenges and setbacks is crucial in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing world. Resilience helps me navigate obstacles and stay focused on my goals.
  2. Empathy: Understanding and relating to others is vital for building strong relationships, communicating effectively, and making a positive impact in the world. Empathy allows me to see things from different perspectives and connect with others on a deeper level.
  3. Curiosity: Having a curious mindset is essential for lifelong learning, growth, and innovation. Curiosity drives us to ask questions, seek knowledge, and explore new ideas, helping us stay adaptable and open to new opportunities.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

– _Breathe_: Take a step back, breathe deeply, and clear your mind. This simple act can calm your thoughts and help you focus.

– _Prioritize_: Identify the most critical tasks and tackle them one by one. Break them down into smaller, manageable chunks to regain control.

– _Ask for help_: Don’t be afraid to seek support from friends, family, or professionals. Sharing your burden can provide new perspectives and solutions.

– _Practice self-care_: Make time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation. Your well-being is crucial for navigating challenges.

– _Take small wins_: Celebrate your tiny achievements, even if they seem insignificant. This will help build momentum and confidence.

Remember, feeling overwhelmed is temporary, and with these strategies, you can regain control and move forward. Take great care of yourself for yourself!
