Meet Elizabeth Komba

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Elizabeth Komba a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

Very early in life, I learned how to work to make an honest living. My first job was working in the beauty supply store where my mom was a hairstylist and she taught me how to do hair at the age of 11. I started working and funny my love for Beauty. I was literally the only kid working in the shop with my mom, assisting her with her clients that trusted me enough to help touch their hair that began my work ethic very early in life I took that into my adulthood.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’ve always had a love and passion for things that are art but my most passionate gift is singing since I was a little girl. I’ve always loved singing music became huge part of my life. cause I don’t want a lot of trauma and my childhood music was always an escape and I developed my gift of singing in church. I was the only child and the adult choir at my church and I developed my gifts there I used to be a very shy kid, but when I opened up my mouth to sing, I always had a big voice, and I would see how people responded to it so I knew very early in life that mike singing was bigger than Just TALENT. It became purpose and I pursued the music industry in my late teens and move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back some of the qualities skills and areas of knowledge that were impactful to my journey was the fact that I had an ability to hear music in color. I can pick up notes so fast and mimic melodic sounds that I heard and sing it vocally I developed a skill to hear and learn music at a fast pace my advice to folks who are early in their journey I encourage you to find the love for your art. Find the passion for your art study the people that you admire who are in a place that you desire to be, and become that not necessarily become them, but become that greatness that you desire to be.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

Honestly, the five love languages has played a huge part in my life because it’s helped me to understand my love languages and others and knowing the difference in how we respond to one another through how we choose to love each other and that’s also been impactful in how I sing And express myself I live a life where I’m intentional about pouring into people and seeing people for who they are.
