Meet Elizabeth O’Connor

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elizabeth O’Connor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elizabeth below.

Elizabeth , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

While I’m the most confident I’ve ever been, it wasn’t always this way, and I still have moments where I have to remind myself of my worth—regardless of having acne or textured skin.

Growing up, I loved makeup and dreamed of becoming an artist or a model. But when puberty hit, so did my acne—worse than most of my peers. My self-image took a huge hit, making it difficult to put myself out there. I felt like there were two versions of me: the one I aspired to be—bold, beautiful, and ambitious—and the one I actually was, afraid to be seen. As my confidence dwindled, I developed severe social anxiety, eventually leading me to homeschool. At that point, I fully gave in to my fears, choosing to hide from the world.

But even at my lowest, I knew I wanted more for myself. Slowly, I started pushing my boundaries—stepping outside, wearing less makeup, forcing myself to talk to people. Each time I did something that scared me, it became a little easier. I realized that fear loses its power when you face it head-on.

Over time, I stopped seeing my acne as a flaw and started embracing it as part of my journey. I challenged my intrusive thoughts, proved them wrong, and built my confidence through consistency. I learned that growth isn’t about being fearless—it’s about pushing forward despite fear.

Even now, at 24, I still aspire to rediscover myself in my passions for modeling and makeup—but this time, in a way that empowers me and allows me to see my beauty in every phase. My journey with self-confidence is ongoing, but I now embrace every version of myself along the way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I started creating content as Acne Prone Princess over a year ago, and while I’m proud of everything I’ve accomplished so far, my journey is just beginning. My main focus now is expanding my brand, growing my influence, and evolving as a creator.

When I first started, it was a personal challenge—to push myself out of my comfort zone. In 2019, I experienced the worst breakout of my life and began documenting my skin journey, but I never had the confidence to share it. That changed in late 2023 and early 2024 when I finally decided to take the leap. I started by focusing on skincare and my personal experiences with acne, never expecting much beyond personal fulfillment.

But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that I am not the same person I was a year ago, and the person I will be a year from now isn’t who I am today. I live by my personal motto, Constantly Evolving, because growth is at the core of everything I do. To me, Constantly Evolving means always pushing myself to grow, learn, and step into new opportunities that challenge and excite me. I refuse to stay stagnant—I’m always looking for ways to elevate my work and expand into new creative spaces. That mindset has allowed me to open myself up to an abundance of opportunities, pushing past limits I once placed on myself. It’s why, after only eight months of monetizing my brand, I’ve already had the chance to work with some of my dream brands—including Ipsy, L’Oréal, Maybelline, and Tower 28. And this is just the beginning.

A major goal of mine—one that aligns perfectly with my personal motto, Constantly Evolving—is to dive deeper into makeup, modeling, and fashion content. As a creator, evolving means developing myself in ways that allow me to explore new aspects of my creativity. My audience knows me as the skincare girl, but there’s so much more I want to share. Makeup, modeling, and fashion have always been passions of mine, and stepping back into these areas is a natural progression of my journey. Just as I once pushed myself to open up about my skincare struggles, I’m now embracing the challenge of expanding my content and showing more sides of myself. This year is all about stepping into my full potential, growing my brand, and developing myself as an influencer in new and exciting ways.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that have been the most impactful in my journey are consistency, open-mindedness, and discipline.

Consistency is what builds momentum. It’s easy to feel discouraged when growth feels slow, but showing up, even when you don’t feel like it, is what separates those who succeed from those who don’t. The more consistent you are, the more you refine your craft, build credibility, and create opportunities for yourself.

Being open-minded has allowed me to evolve. I’m always learning, re-learning, and growing. If there’s one key piece of knowledge to keep in mind when exploring your passions, it’s that while there’s no need to reinvent the wheel—because that foundation is what gives you structure—you still get to paint the walls. Every industry is constantly evolving, so staying open to learning and adapting is essential.

Lastly, discipline is what keeps everything together. Motivation comes and goes, but discipline ensures you keep pushing forward, even on the hard days. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but the small, consistent efforts you put in every day will compound over time.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to embrace the process. Stay consistent even when results aren’t immediate, remain open to learning and growth, and develop the discipline to keep going no matter what. If you keep evolving, success will follow.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Three months after I first started Acne Prone Princess, I found myself in a terrifying situation. I was broke, and with only three days to find a place to live, I felt completely lost. Being alone in LA with nowhere to go, I genuinely thought I was going to have to live out of my car. For those three days, I was in full panic mode—trying and failing over and over again to find a solution—all while still having to work two jobs and remain consistent with posting content. No matter how overwhelmed I felt, I kept showing up online, even if it meant putting up a facade for my audience. I didn’t want to put negative energy out there, so I pushed through, determined to keep my brand alive despite everything happening behind the scenes.

Then, just 24 hours before I was going to be completely out of options, one of my co-workers heard about my situation and offered me a place to stay until I could get back on my feet. I will always be grateful to her for that, and it’s one of the many moments in my life that reaffirmed my belief that the universe works for you, not against you—especially when you’re putting out the energy you hope to receive.

When I feel overwhelmed, I remind myself of my purpose. The journey toward that purpose isn’t always easy, but every challenge is shaping me into the person I need to be to fulfill it. Growth comes with discomfort, and I trust that everything I’m experiencing is preparing me for something bigger.

One of the biggest obstacles to staying focused is comparison—it’s the thief of joy. There are times when I catch myself comparing my progress to others or feeling like I should be further along. When that happens, I know it’s time to isolate and refocus. Comparing myself to someone else’s path only slows me down and takes my focus away from what I could be doing to excel.

In moments like this, I find that the best thing to do is to get creative and try something new. Sometimes, feeling overwhelmed comes from complacency—when things start to feel repetitive or uninspired. That’s when I push myself to experiment, take risks, and find the fun in what I’m doing again. Whether it’s creating new content, exploring a different aspect of my brand, or just stepping back to reset, keeping things fresh helps me stay motivated and aligned with my purpose.

At the end of the day, I am always evolving. From the moment I was young and realized I wanted to be something big, to the day I met my business partner Caitlyn J Lopez in 2021 and began working alongside her at Beaux Monde Media, my life has been a constant evolution. When we launched our clothing line, The Venom Era, we applied that very same philosophy—creating a community that empowers and uplifts not just women, but everyone who connects with our vision. That same mission is deeply rooted in Acne Prone Princess. What started as my personal skincare journey has evolved into something much bigger—a brand dedicated to self-love, confidence, and embracing growth in every form. Every challenge, every moment of uncertainty, and every time I’ve felt overwhelmed has only pushed me to step into the next version of myself. And that’s what keeps me going—knowing that no matter where I am today, the person I am becoming is even greater.
