Meet Elizabeth Roy

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elizabeth Roy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elizabeth below.

Elizabeth, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

My purpose has been shaped by my life experiences, especially my resilience as a child. From an early age, I had to advocate for myself against the abuse, barriers and challenges I endured. It was during those challenging moments that I realized the power of having a voice, even when it felt like the world wanted me to stay silent. Breaking free from that cycle of pain was not just about survival, it was about reclaiming my identity, my worth and rewriting my own story.

As I grew, I knew that my mission was bigger than just my own healing. I wanted to be a voice for others, to help people—especially women—find their own strength, embrace their self-love, and step into who they are, unapologetically. My brand, Break the Cycle, isn’t just about fashion; it’s about empowerment, a reflection of the journey I’ve been on. I want to inspire others to believe that no matter where they come from or what they’ve been through, they have the power to break free, to love themselves fully, and to create a life that reflects their true worth.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As a creative and founder of Break The Cycle, I am excited to have hands on every single detail of my business. What I love the most is to oversee the entire product development process, from initial sketches to final production, to maintain the brand’s core mission, values, and aesthetic. Also, to develop a unique brand identity that reflects the essence of Break the Cycle, focusing on positive messages of self-love and empowerment.

When someone wears Break the Cycle clothing, they’re not just putting on something comfortable or stylish—they’re choosing to embody a message. It’s a statement of personal growth, resilience, and authenticity. By wearing these designs, individuals are reminded daily to embrace their true selves unapologetically and to reject societal or cultural pressures that may have once silenced them.

This line of apparel isn’t just fashion—it’s a form of advocacy. It encourages people to break generational patterns, speak their truth, and stand confidently in their own power. Through these designs, Break the Cycle clothing fosters a sense of community, where people can share in the mission of spreading positivity and inspiring others to find their voice.

I am also excited to introduce our new our new Fall/Winter Collection Soon!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back the three qualities that I consider most impactful in my journey would be resilience, perseverance, and grit.

Although every journey is unique, it is important to understand that when purpose is clear, the drive is stronger. Embracing failure as a learning tool. Sometimes things don’t go as plan but they serve as valuable lessons. See challenges as opportunity for growth.

Resilience isn’t just about enduring stress but about managing it. Develop habits like mindfulness, physical exercise, or journaling to help regulate stress and stay focused. Your mental health is key to long-term sustainability.

Flexibility is key to perseverance. Business conditions change, markets shift, and plans need adjustment. Be willing to adapt and pivot, rather than sticking to a failing approach, Focus on the process, not just the outcomes. Success takes time and don’t believe everything you see on social media.

Balancing these practices will help you build the resilience, perseverance, and grit you need to navigate the inevitable ups and downs of entrepreneurship.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for us was showing us that love and strength go far beyond material wealth. They raised us in an environment where money was scarce, but compassion, hard work, and integrity were abundant. As immigrants facing incredible odds, they worked tirelessly to create opportunities for my siblings and myself, not just by providing for our physical needs, but by instilling in us a deep sense of purpose, empathy, and resilience.

They taught me that success isn’t measured by how much you have, but by how much you’re willing to give, to endure, and to care for others. They showed me that no matter the adversity we faced, we could rise above it through perseverance and by staying true to our values. Their sacrifices, their long hours, and their unwavering belief in a better future made me who I am today. They made sure I understood that our circumstances didn’t define us — our character did. For that, I am forever grateful.
