We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elizabeth Zacero. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elizabeth below.
Elizabeth, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
I come from a family of artist and optimists so I never had problem with the question “What if something goes wrong?”, cause honestly I never asked it. I am very stubborn as a Capricorn that I am so I never really cared what others would say. I live my life head first, but of course I don’t do something that leaves bad consequences always good. I am very lucky to also be surrounded by people that accept me for me, so that helps with optimism as well.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Ever since my early days I’ve been drawn to show business. Everything about it makes my eyes literally sparkle, whether it’s on a stage or in a movie. In my teenager days I wanted to be a popstar, I grow up listening to Rihanna, Britney Spears, Lady gaga but also Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin so my taste in music is based on these legends… unfortunately life had other plans so I had to employ myself since I was 14 to help my family due to my father’s illness, so I had to put my dreams on pause. Then I moved to Ireland with my best friend in hopes to fulfill my dreams, but when you get involved with the wrong people of the industry it can affect you very bad. I made my first album there but it was destroyed in front of my eyes by the “Bad person” cause I didn’t want to get involved with him. So it affected my way of looking at the music industry. I was scared for a long time. I returned to my lovely country Croatia and continued bartending as an artist does, I went to a couple of singing shows but as I wanted to only sing in English my singing career in Croatia flopped, but then I was introduced into acting by starting as an extra on set. I wanted to do this as a side gig but I fell in love with being on set so much that I decided to pursue this as my career. I started auditioning more and more and discovered I really have a talent for acting and voice acting. I booked job after job, small roles but very dear to me. I was also very lucky to be introduced to the “Cannes Film Festival” by a very dear friend of mine, where my passion for acting only grew stronger. I would say that in the last two years I can really see progress in my career and I am really working with amazing people. Right now I am developing a character called “Marshal Blake” for my second big role in a movie called “A man worth killing” by Vjekoslav Katusin and the process of character development itself is what I love the most. Being able to transform your body as a vessel for a character is a beautiful process and to me a privilege that someone would choose me to be that vessel. So I am really grateful for what I do and I love every second of it. Music is still a big part of my life and I will get back to it one way or another, but you can’t rush Art it has to come to you. So for everybody reading this pursue what you love, don’t waste your days they are to precious to be wasted. My life only got better when I started making the risky choices and started listening to my heart. I am looking forward to see what my journey brings and very grateful that I could be a part of this interview.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Talking from my own personal experience, the best quality that you can have in this industry is to never give up. You have to be optimistic cause you are really gonna hear a lot of no’s, but they don’t mean nothing, you just didn’t fit into the story vision. Also I don’t take anything personally and I take constructive advice very gratefully. When someone is telling you something that could help you don’t be a smart aleck and get offended. Take the advice and use it. And surround yourself with positive people. A flower can’t grow in a toxic environment.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My fiance Zachary, just cause he believes in me. I am still learning and you will never stop learning. But the thing which I struggle the most is self love. And self love is honestly a skill you need for any career. Cause when you love yourself and believe in yourself others will follow. This is something my fiance taught me. The amount of love he gives me on a daily basis proves that he must have fallen for something good and then I started believing in it.
