We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ellie B-Chico a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ellie , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Through many trials and paths of deep searching, I finally came to understand that only with God’s help was I able to break the cycles of self sabotage and constant negative thoughts of myself that were overwhelming at times. As a “creative” from a very young age, I needed constant inspiration, which meant going against the cultural norms. This made me stand out and that made me feel good. However, the ending was always the same, the void was still there, I was easily bored and wanted or so I thought, needed something different. I walked many roads and paths searching for that rush of happiness. Fast forward to 2014, after many adventures, some good some not so great, God caught my attention and the search began to find truth, meaning and purpose. Now 2025, I have never looked back. One of my biggest regrets is not realizing this sooner. I eventually surrendered my life to God and devoted myself to His teachings. In the last 11 years my life has had more purpose and meaning than I ever could imagine. Everything about my human nature has evolved into a God fearing creative woman. As a multi wheel turning, non stop creative, I have found fulfillment and joy in all my new found endeavors, “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalms 37-4) I don’t need the approval or constant appraisals of others to feel alive anymore. I create my joy through Him, I will continue to spread his light in any darkness I may come across.

My name is Ellie B Chico, a self taught photographer & costume designer from Los Angeles Ca.
I have been in the business for over 15 years. I run the business Ellie Burgueno Photography and I am a loyal Canon and Magmod user.
Photography & costume designing inspires me to create unique and inspiring images to provoke the viewer’s imagination and bring forth a passion or emotion.
I specializes in “Creative Portrait & Wedding Photography”, I am most inspired by adding unique touches and vibrant color to any scene I am working on. Off Camera Flash is a favorite technique, I love turning an average photo into dramatic wall art. I’ve been published and have multi-award winning photography awards, which has captured the attention of many, including sponsors like Canon, Magnetmod, & Flashmasters and many more. In recent years, I have taken on the coveted role as a speaker and educator for photography workshops and photowalks hosted and sponsored by Canon, Magmod and myself.
“The LenSpiration” is my personal workshops which have become the favorite of many photographers. Through this experience I have a new-found joy for photography. My extensive knowledge and skills allow me to be a great mentor to other photographers and give back to the community I love so much. A piece of advice that I offer, is that the best investment is the one you spend on yourself. Practice your craft as much as you can and never stop creating, Find other gifts that keep your soul alive as well.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
What brings the most joy and fulfillment in your life? Develop a strong sense of what you truly love to do. Take this gift and share it with the world. The blessings from sharing your talents and gifts surpass the growth in them, It took me decades to learn this. Invest in your education when it comes to your craft. Knowledge and wisdom are your best friends. Surround yourself with those that inspire you. This will be uplifting to your spirit & creative ideas. Don’t allow anyone or anything to render you powerless, No-one has that kind of power over you. Last but not least, You are specially made to shine and bless one another with love. Your uniqueness is what makes you the greatest. Keep digging deep to be that greater you.
