We were lucky to catch up with Ely Holborow recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ely, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I’ve always believed that true confidence and self-esteem are journeys, not destinations. For me, it wasn’t an overnight transformation but rather a series of experiences and realizations that shaped my perception of myself.
I’ll be honest, there was a time when I struggled with confidence and self-esteem. I had moments of self-doubt and insecurity, and it took me a while to understand that it’s okay not to be perfect, that imperfections are what make us human.
What really helped me was learning to be kinder to myself. I started to acknowledge my strengths and accomplishments, no matter how small they seemed. I embraced self-care practices that nourished my mind and body, allowing me to cultivate a deeper sense of self-worth.
Over time, I fell in love with the woman I am and the person I’m becoming. I realized that self-love is not about being flawless but about accepting myself wholeheartedly, flaws and all. It’s about celebrating my uniqueness and embracing my journey with all its ups and downs.
I still have days when I doubt myself or feel insecure, but I’ve learned to be gentle with myself during those moments. What’s truly empowering is that I’ve found joy and fulfillment in helping others see their own beauty and potential. Being able to uplift and inspire others has been a source of magic in my life, reminding me that our journey to self-love is not just personal but also interconnected with the beauty we see in others.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I specialize in capturing portraits that not only showcase my clients’ external beauty but also celebrate their inner confidence. What excites me most about my work is the transformative power of photography. It’s not just about taking pictures; it’s about creating an experience where my clients feel empowered, seen, and truly beautiful.
What sets my brand apart is my dedication to making everyone I work with feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. I believe that when people feel good about themselves, it shines through in every photograph. It’s about capturing authentic moments that reflect the essence of who they are.
I’m thrilled to announce that I’m expanding my services to include content creation for small businesses. I understand the importance of visual storytelling in today’s digital age, especially for businesses looking to connect with their audience on a deeper level. Whether it’s stunning photos for social media or engaging reels that capture the essence of your brand, I’m here to help businesses elevate their online presence.
I’m actively seeking partnerships with small businesses that value authenticity and quality in their visual content. My goal is to create compelling imagery that not only attracts attention but also tells a meaningful story about the brand.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
In reflecting on my journey, I’ve found three key qualities that have been pivotal: self-compassion, an open-minded approach to growth, and networking with other creatives. For those starting out, I recommend practicing self-compassion through self-care and positive self-talk, embracing challenges with an open mind to learn and grow, and building a supportive network of fellow creatives for collaboration and inspiration. These qualities not only nurture personal and professional development but also create a resilient foundation for navigating the creative journey with confidence and fulfillment.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who understands the importance of authenticity and self-expression in photography. They want more than just posed pictures; they want images that truly reflect who they are at their core. Confidence in front of the camera is important to them, and they appreciate a photographer who can create a relaxed and supportive atmosphere during the shoot. They value storytelling through imagery and want photographs that capture genuine, heartfelt moments. I enjoy working with clients who are open to being themselves and trust me to capture their unique essence in every photograph. For me, the joy comes from creating images that not only showcase their external beauty but also reveal their inner spirit and personality.
