We recently connected with Ember Byrd and have shared our conversation below.
Ember , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
If you would’ve asked me this question a year ago, I wouldn’t have been as confident in my answer. I have found so much resilience through growing in my relationship with God and learning more about my Lord and Savior. Before my relationship with God, I didn’t know who to look to in moments of darkness, but as I grow closer with him each day I am amazed, and overwhelmed at how strong and resilient I am. It says in Proverbs 24:16: “The righteous fall seven times and rise again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity” I get my resilience from the promises of my Lord. I know that no matter what I’m going through he is there with me and walking with him doesn’t mean that things will always be perfect or easy, but it does always mean that I won’t be alone- and having Jesus Christ in my heart and having had accepted him as my savior is where I get my resilience from.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I first and foremost am a mother of an amazing little girl. Second to that I run an instagram account and website called the “Fort Mill food blog” where over the last four years I have been highlighting local businesses, and creating content surrounding my life in my city. I have met so many amazing people through creating content and have also become part of the team at our community cupboards which is a local nonprofit where we focus on feeding the community and spreading Gods light and love. I often participate in local events in the community and am proud to partner up with a lot of great organizations and businesses in the Carolina’s. I’m really big on lifting up others and encouraging others in their journeys in life. I believe that the world is a beautiful place full of beautiful people and the sooner we all start being kind not only to each other but to ourselves, the world will be a lot better.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say the first skill would be communication, and making people feel comfortable. The world is extremely busy and I think it’s a really beautiful thing to sit down with someone and learn about them and learn about what makes them unique. I would say a quality that has helped me is being compassionate and understanding and meeting people exactly where they are.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely. I am passionate about connecting with like-minded people who want to make the world a better place. I think it all starts with people with a vision. Anything starts with an idea and in my mind, we all have amazing ideas and who knows what of them when too passionate people put their minds together for the greater good. Both with social media and the nonprofit.
