We recently connected with Emelyn Garcia and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Emelyn, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
It took time to gain confidence in my self and my profession. So much training with my inner self. Growing my knowledge and continuing my learning growth. I continued in taking classes every. month in my cosmetology profession. I also took self growth courses. Attended manager classes and growth to help others succeed.
The more i took courses the more confident i became in cutting hair and coloring hair. The more confidence i was able to give my clients with there new looks.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
As a stylist for 6 years i then applied to become salon manager. I was able to manage 7 years at Jcpenny Salon. There i learned so many manager skills that I was able to apply as a salon owner now. I learned about budgets and managing 18 stylist at a time!
The best advice i can give to a new person in the cosmetology field is to be patient with the growth and not to give up.
It takes about 18 months to build clients. To give at all you got and to continue learning.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal clients would be clients that want healthy hair.
I love styling thick hair . Clients that take my hair advice and use the proper products.
