Meet Emilee Schipper

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emilee Schipper. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Emilee, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

Generosity has always played a big role in my life. It’s something I try to practice and give freely. Growing up, my parents taught me the importance of being generous, even when it wasn’t easy or convenient. We’d often bake breads or muffins together and bring them to our neighbors, just because. Seeing how a simple act of kindness could brighten someone’s entire day left a big impression on me. The feeling of making someone feel seen and cared for is what continues to motivate my generosity today.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Pretty Pink Bakery started as a simple hobby for baking and has grown into a home bakery business specializing in custom and specialty baked goods for everyday treats and special occasions. What began with French macarons has expanded into a full menu with cakes, cupcakes, breads, and seasonal offerings.

I love creating beautiful and delicious treats! The bakery has a big selection of macaron flavors, edible painted designs, and holiday collections. Whether you’re looking for something sweet to brighten your day or a beautiful dessert for a celebration, Pretty Pink Bakery offers porch pickups and custom orders to make every moment a little sweeter.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I think the three things that were very beneficial to me was having a base knowledge of kitchen skills, a rough idea of budgeting and finances, and a specific vision for my business. If you’re just starting a business or brainstorming to create one, I think it’s important to come up with a very precise plan of what you want your business to look like and feel like. This helps your brand to flow and makes customers recognize your brand! Be confident in your skills and knowledge, but don’t feel bad about asking questions especially to people who’ve been doing business for awhile.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My husband has definitely been the one to help me overcome challenges and build confidence in what I do. Often I feel worried to take the next step in my business but he always encourages me and pushes me to try new things. He’s my biggest supporter and my bakery wouldn’t be where it is today without his encouragement and positivity behind the scenes!
