Meet Emilie Muniz

We were lucky to catch up with Emilie Muniz recently and have shared our conversation below.

Emilie, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

Honestly, my resilience comes from a mix of things, but mostly from being clear on why I do what I do and who I do it for. Growing up in Brooklyn taught me a lot about pushing through challenges and staying true to myself, no matter what comes my way. I’m surrounded by people who hustle, who know how to bounce back, and that energy has really shaped me.

I also get a lot of strength from tarot and divination—they’re not just tools for my clients; they’re my go-to for reconnecting with my purpose and keeping grounded when things get tough. Knowing that my work helps people find clarity keeps me going. It’s all about finding meaning in what I do, and that keeps me steady, no matter what life throws at me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Thank you for letting me share a bit about my work! I’m a tarot reader, divination teacher, and creator of tarot and Lenormand decks like the Simplicity Tarot and Simplicity Lenormand. I’ve been in the mystical arts for over 20 years, and what I love most is making tarot and divination feel accessible and easy to use. Whether it’s through personal readings, workshops, or my decks, I’m all about helping people tune into their intuition and get a fresh perspective on life.

One of the things that makes my work special is how simple and beginner-friendly my decks are. My Simplicity Lenormand deck, for example, is designed so anyone can pick it up and start reading—no experience required. It’s been amazing to see how many people have found confidence and clarity with it. I only have about 30 decks left, so it’s been a bit of a whirlwind!

Right now, I’m working on expanding through more online and in-person classes, giving people more ways to learn divination with me. And there’s some big news—I’m partnering with US Games Systems to mass publish Simplicity Lenormand soon as soon as next spring, so more people will be able to dive into Lenormand with a deck that’s easy and fun to use.

Thanks again for this opportunity to share what I do—I’m all about making divination feel approachable, and I’m excited to see where the journey goes from here!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, there are three qualities that have really made a difference in my journey: intuition, resilience, and adaptability. Here’s a bit about each and some advice for anyone just starting out.

Intuition – This has been my guide in both my readings and my creative work. Building a strong connection with your intuition is essential, especially if you’re in the mystical arts. My advice? Start small—maybe with a daily practice, like pulling a card each morning and reflecting on how it relates to your day. Journaling your insights can help you build confidence and trust in your intuitive voice over time.

Resilience – Building a career in any creative or spiritual field can be tough, with ups and downs along the way. Staying resilient means embracing the challenges and seeing them as part of the journey. My advice here is to keep a clear sense of why you’re doing what you do. Knowing the impact you want to make can fuel you when things get tough. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, and don’t be afraid to take breaks to recharge!

Adaptability – This has been huge, especially with how quickly things shift in business, social media, and trends. Being open to learning new things and adjusting your approach is key. My advice? Stay curious and be willing to step out of your comfort zone. Whether it’s trying a new format for your work, learning a new skill, or simply being open to change, flexibility keeps you moving forward.

These three qualities—intuition, resilience, and adaptability—have been foundational for me. For anyone starting out, embrace these qualities and take things one step at a time. Every step forward is progress!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my mom did was open up the world of divination to me when I was just 11. She would often have espiritistas (spiritualists) over to read the tassa de café (coffee cup). One day, a spiritualist asked me to try reading her cup, just to tell her what I saw—and I was right. That moment completely changed my world. I became fascinated with divination, and from that day forward, I never looked back. I’m so grateful to my mom for introducing me to this path; it’s truly been life-changing.
