Meet Emilio Ruiz-Calero

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emilio Ruiz-Calero. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emilio below.

Hi Emilio , thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout

At first, I just worked and worked to do the best job possible, to ensure quality, without taking a single day off.
But I realized that when I took days off, I was more productive and felt better, so I dedicated myself to working and finding time to rest and enjoy myself with my partner, and thus find more inspiration.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I do fine line tattoos with very pure blacks and high gray contrasts.
My theme is nostalgia, representing your favorite anime/manga characters with an edgy aesthetic.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three things that inspired me most at the beginning were:
Create
Destroy
Repeat

The only advice I can give to people who are just starting out is to not give up and to be disciplined.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

It’s a fairly easy answer: I would enjoy the rest of my life, travel, spend time with friends and family, and leave this world in peace.
