We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Emily Clemons a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Emily , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Oh, resilience! It’s such a beautiful thing, isn’t it? Like a gentle, steady strength that helps us navigate life’s ups and downs. For me, it’s always been about that wonderful phrase, “this too shall pass,” a little mantra my amazing mother instilled in me. It’s a reminder that every moment, good or challenging, is just a chapter in our story.
I’ve been so fortunate to have parents who truly embody resilience. They faced life’s curveballs with such grace and determination, never giving up, no matter how tough things got. They were incredible role models, showing me that anything is possible with the right mindset.
My husband and I learned a lot about resilience early on. Starting our family young meant we had to grow up quickly, and like many young couples, we made our share of mistakes. We faced some really tough times – cars close to repossession, utilities cut off, and the constant pressure of providing for our family. But even then, we knew that as long as we kept moving forward, working towards our goals, we’d get through it. And we did! Within four years of marriage, we were homeowners, we finished our basement with cash, and we found ourselves in rewarding careers.
Of course, life isn’t always perfect, and we still have our share of challenges. But we embrace those moments as opportunities for growth. Now, with two wonderful boys, ages 14 and 10, I strive to be the example my parents were for me. I want them to see that every obstacle can be overcome, that with a positive attitude and a little bit of grit, anything is possible. It’s all about showing them that beautiful, unwavering strength that helps us all bounce back and keep moving forward.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
After 8 years in the position of Director Of Agent Support for a brokerage, I decided to take the leap and pursue my dream of owning my own brokerage. I knew I wanted to stand apart from the rest. My vision being to create a brokerage that was more than just a place for buying and selling.I chose the name “The Dawning Firm”, because I wanted a name with a meaning of opportunity and new beginnings. I knew I wanted to infuse warmth, life, and genuine connections into every transaction — much like how the dawn brings the warmth of the sun and ushers in a new day!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The 3 qualities that were most impactful in my real estate journey are 1) my open personality – I have always maintained an open mind, being receptive to new ideas, and experiences, 2) my empathy – I care deeply and with everything I have. In real estate this can be bad and good; good – I treat everyone like family and strive to ensure they get the same care I would give me own, bad – I get so invested, I never want to let them go after the transaction is completed. And 3) my outgoingness – I very much so love to meet new people, share my thoughts, and genuinely help others!
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
At the Dawning Firm our ideal client is any property owner that is looking to regain their time and relaxation by taking a step back from managing their own properties. Additionally, we are looking for Real Estate agents that are interested in keeping more money in their pocket, while having the freedom to run their business the way they choose all while getting that big family feel!
