Meet Emily Davis

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Emily Davis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Emily, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I find my purpose in two profound areas of my life: creating beautiful, timeless art and raising kind, compassionate children. Art allows me to express myself in ways that go beyond words—it’s a way of capturing emotion, beauty, and meaning in something lasting. When I create, I’m thinking about how my work will stand the test of time, hoping it might touch someone years, or even generations, from now. There’s an incredible fulfillment in knowing that my art could continue to resonate with people, even when I’m not around.

Equally important to me is raising children who are kind, empathetic, and thoughtful. As a parent, I believe instilling these values in my own kids is one of the most impactful ways I can contribute to the world. And it’s not just my own children who give me a sense of purpose—I’ve also had the privilege of watching my clients’ children grow up year after year. Seeing them develop into compassionate, wonderful individuals is a constant reminder of the value in nurturing young minds and hearts. It’s an incredibly rewarding experience to witness that growth and know I’m part of a community that values kindness and connection.

In both my art and my role as a parent, there’s a sense of legacy. Whether I’m creating something that speaks to future generations or helping to shape children into the people they will become, I’m always thinking about the lasting impact. It’s that blend of personal expression, social responsibility, and the joy of watching growth—both in art and in life—that fuels my purpose every day

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a portrait photographer, and my work revolves around capturing beautiful, timeless moments for individuals and families. What makes this work so exciting and special to me is the opportunity to create lasting memories that people can cherish for years to come. Whether it’s a family portrait, a special moment between loved ones, or a milestone captured in time, I’m always focused on crafting images that tell a unique story.

Right now, I’m thrilled to be gearing up for my fall and Christmas mini sessions. These seasonal sessions are such a joy to photograph. Fall brings this stunning backdrop of vibrant colors and cozy vibes, and Christmas has a warmth and magic all its own. It’s the perfect time for families to come together and create images that they can share with loved ones, whether as holiday cards or keepsakes. I always look forward to these sessions because they feel festive and filled with love.

For me, photography is more than just pictures—it’s about connection. I love knowing that the photos I create will be shared with family and friends, perhaps becoming part of someone’s holiday tradition or a cherished part of their home. It’s an incredible feeling to help people preserve those moments that matter most.

If you’re looking to create some beautiful memories this season, I’d love to work with you! My mini sessions are quick but packed with personality, and they’re a wonderful way to capture the magic of the season!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back on my journey, I’d say the most impactful qualities were consistency, resilience, and personal integrity. Finding joy in the process also plays a big role in sustaining motivation and success.
Consistency is what keeps you grounded. It’s about showing up every day, whether it’s a good or bad day, and putting in the work. Small, steady progress eventually adds up to big achievements, even if it doesn’t always feel that way in the moment.
Resilience and perseverance are essential because setbacks and challenges will come. What matters most is how you respond to those difficulties—whether you get up, learn from them, and keep going. You have to be willing to grow through the hard times, not just the easy ones.
Alongside these qualities, integrity has been so important. Staying true to my values, being honest with myself and others, and doing what I believe is right, even when it’s hard, has shaped my journey in meaningful ways. When you operate with integrity, you build trust and authenticity, which are invaluable in any field.
Finally, finding joy in the process is an essential part of developing your personal brand. It’s easy to get caught up in outcomes, to compare your work to that of others and feel inadequate, but learning to appreciate the craft—the creativity, the problem-solving, the small victories—has made the journey much more fulfilling. The more joy you find in the work itself, the more sustainable your progress becomes.
For anyone starting out, my advice is to never give up. Embrace the process, stay consistent, keep pushing through challenges, and most importantly, be kind. Kindness to others and yourself will help you stay grounded, and it makes the journey much more rewarding.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I have a few strategies that help me regain balance. First, I find that exercise is a great way to clear my mind. Whether it’s going for a run or doing some yoga, moving my body helps me release stress and get back to a clearer headspace.

Meditation is another key practice for me. Even just a few minutes of quiet reflection or mindful breathing can make a huge difference in resetting my mindset and helping me refocus. It brings me back to the present moment and reminds me to take things one step at a time.

Cooking for my family is also something I turn to when I need to de-stress. It’s calming, and it allows me to express my creativity in a different way while spending time with the people I care about most. Sharing a meal together helps me reconnect with what’s really important.

Finally, sometimes when I feel overwhelmed, the best thing I can do is just knuckle down and push through the work. Getting things done can create a sense of accomplishment and ease the pressure. Prioritizing tasks and tackling them one by one helps me get back on top of things.

My advice for anyone feeling overwhelmed is to find a balance between rest and action. Take time to recharge, but also make space for productivity. By blending those approaches, I’ve been able to manage the stress that comes with a busy life.
