Emily , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Confidence comes from within, it’s taken a long time to develop confidence and sometimes I still struggle. It’s important to remember that nobody is perfect. Developing good habits, reviewing past achievements, and setting yourself targeted goals for each session or wedding is the key to growing self-esteem. Every time I meet a new client, have a consult, or a photo session, I evaluate everything from the lens I used, the words I spoke, the edits I applied, and the customer service I gave, just so I can work on and improve myself.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Francisphotographs LLC has been based out of Northern Virginia where it originated 3.5 years ago. Some exciting news that will be changing Fall of 2023, I am relocating to South New Jersey which means my business is as well. You’re looking at South Jerseys newest photographer!
I will be rebuilding my business in a new state, with new clients. I am ready to meet new families, new couples, and capture important moments for all my future clients.
Virginia will always hold a place in my heart, I can’t wait to visit and host mini sessions for my loyal clients. You may wonder if I am still accepting VA wedding couples, and the answer is yes, of course!! I love traveling up and down the east coast, so if I have been on your list please reach out!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Find a mentor!! Ask all the questions, find someone who is open to teaching you and helping you grow your business. It is all about community not competition. You will only be successful as a photographer if you help your fellow photographers and ask for help!
2. Research and invest! Research gear that is high end and appropriate for weddings, then invest in that gear. Editing and learning your gear is also important but making sure you have back up cameras, flashes, battery’s, the correct SD cards, hard drives, lenses, etc. are all important. Wedding days are so important and a lot of trust falls on the photographer to capture those moments and you want to make sure your gear can withhold 6 – 12 hour wedding days.
3. Insure yourself! Get good insurance. Lots of venues are requiring proof of insurance now and days, however it’s imperative that you have coverage incase anything ever happens. Nobody ever plans for accidents to happen so it’s very important to make sure you and your business are always covered!
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am definitely looking for South Jersey Vendors to work with! I love having a thorough vendor list to give my couples when they plan their wedding! 70% of couples book their photographer after a venue is secured. So a lot of my couple ask for suggestions on vendors such as day of coordinators, MUA, hair stylists, videographers, florists, caterers, Djs, etc.
