Meet Emily Gleeson

We recently connected with Emily Gleeson and have shared our conversation below.

Emily, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

Being a hair & makeup artist in the luxury wedding space, you have to be creative and business minded.

Makeup artistry, the products, the application process is constantly evolving. I know I’m never going to stop growing and learning. One gift that Covid brought to social media is the ability to learn from artists, brands, and other creatives from anywhere! I strongly believe in constantly continuing to educate yourself, this can be in person classes, online master classes, and even watching some of the industry leaders work on social media.

My creativity has always felt alive, because I’m constantly inspired by other HMUA’s, business owners, and industry leaders!

There is something super special about the wedding community, and bridal artists. You have to love being part of the most important day of someone’s life, thrive off the pressure, and grow!

I’m so blessed to continue to feel creative everyday! That comes in so many different ways. Creating the perfect bridal makeup or hairstyle, creating educational content for other artists, and growing with my community.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

At Beauty by Emily AZ, we redefine luxury beauty services with our hair and makeup team of seasoned professionals. Our brand offers bespoke beauty experiences tailored to each client’s unique vision.

Think of us as your personal hype team, we want our clients to not only love their look, but feel at home with us.

We believe that beauty is not just about appearance—it’s about confidence, empowerment, and self-expression. Let’s celebrate your natural beauty and leave you feeling like your best self.

Exciting News:
Our team is growing! We are now 16 artists and I’m working on a “Meet The Team” page on my website, featuring some of my senior and most experienced artists! This will allow brides to learn a little more about them, what they specialize in, and even request them on their wedding day!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

If I could give artists just starting out in the industry advice.

Learn from others, work with other teams or artists until you feel confident in booking your own brides and clients. Building that confidence to walk into a stressful environment and be the calm, takes experience. I still love to learn from artists I look up to, even though I have been a cosmetologist for 20 years, and in the wedding industry for 13 years.

Remember to give yourself grace, everyone was new once. Don’t compare yourself to other artists or their successes in a negative way. You’ll get there! Everything can look “perfect” on social media, but it’s never perfect. All you can do is continue to grow, stay a student first, and the rest will fall into place.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Collaboration and community is key to growth in our business and working with others you admire in the luxury wedding space.

I’m always open to collaborations, with other wedding vendors, venues, brands, and more! I love connecting with other creative leaders outside of booked weddings. This is where we can really showcase our artistry.

Please send any inquiries my way so we can grow together!
