We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emily Grindell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emily below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Emily with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I got my first job at 15 organizing books at a book manufacturing warehouse. I enjoyed earning my own money and having my own responsibilities. I worked at a restaurant at the age of 16 and loved the fast pace of this new job. From early on in my childhood, my dad gave chores and required my siblings and I to work hard in the house, at school and at work.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I own a professional organizing company called Calm For Clutter. I am one of the preferred organizing partners for their in-home organizing.
My company brings functional beauty into the busy moms, entrepreneurs, single parent, divorced, widowed, newly parents, and the lives of those who are just overwhelmed in their own home.
We transform spaces into peaceful and effective spaces where our clients can focus on what’s important.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My best advice to grow in an area you want to:
1. Read. Like a lot. Read articles, books, interviews.
2. Find a mentor or teacher to walk through some of the questions you might have.
3. Make mistakes and learn from them. Every mistake can be an area where you grow.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
My favorite business book to this day is “How to be a great boss” by Gino Wickham
