We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emily Laratta. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emily below.
Hi Emily, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
In the beginning of my content creation journey, I definitely struggled with imposter syndrome. I’d compare myself to other creators and question whether my voice or style really mattered. What helped me overcome that was consistently showing up — even when things weren’t perfect. Over time, I started to see how my content genuinely connected with people, especially on a local level, and that reminded me that my perspective is unique and valuable.
I also shifted my mindset from self-doubt to strategy. Instead of focusing on what I didn’t have yet, I focused on what I could learn and build. Each collaboration, pitch, or post became proof of what I bring to the table. Now, I’m a lot more comfortable owning my wins, knowing that my work is worth something, and that I’ve earned my place in this space through consistency and authenticity.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi! I’m Emily Laratta, known online as @emylarattaxo (on all platforms)
I’ve honestly had a love for creating and sharing my life online since the early MySpace and Xanga days — back when customizing your page and posting random daily thoughts felt like the coolest thing ever.
What started as just something fun and creative has grown into one of my biggest passions and such a special part of my life.
These days, I create lifestyle content that’s really a reflection of me — I love highlighting good food, fun experiences, and my forever obsession with fashion. My dogs are a big part of my world too, so they naturally sneak into my content often. More than anything, I love letting people see those real little glimpses of my everyday life.
I was born in Myrtle Beach, SC, and now live in Conway, just minutes from the sweetest downtown area. Since moving here, I’ve truly fallen in love with this town — the charm, the people, the hidden gems. I get so much joy out of showcasing local treasures, supporting small businesses, and sharing the places and shops that make this community feel special.
I’m always working on new partnerships and collaborations, finding fun ways to highlight the things I genuinely love. For me, creating isnt ” work” its something that’s always been a part of who I am. I love connecting with people, telling stories through my content and showing off the places and moments that bring me joy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I’d say the three things that have made the biggest impact on my journey are consistency, authenticity, and trusting my own lane.
In the beginning, consistency was everything. I showed up even when my content wasn’t “perfect” or fully planned out. Over time, that’s what helped me grow and figure out what I truly love creating. It’s easy to overthink, but honestly, just putting yourself out there over and over again is where the magic happens.
Then there’s authenticity, which I’ve learned to hold onto even tighter. When I first started, I’d see other local creators posting about certain places or events and feel like I had to post about it too — even if it didn’t really fit my style or what I wanted my page to be. I was trying to keep up with everyone else. But the more I grew, the more I realized I don’t have to say yes to everything or be everywhere. Now, I only share what actually aligns with me — and that makes my content feel so much more genuine.
And lastly, trusting my own lane has been a game changer. I don’t worry about what everyone else is doing anymore. If something doesn’t fit my brand or the kind of content I love creating, I’m okay passing it up. That shift has made my platform feel more personal and way less pressured.
For anyone just starting out, my best advice is:
•Show up — even when it’s messy.
• Be real — people connect with you, not a perfect version of you.
• And don’t chase trends or other people’s paths — trust your own voice.
That’s where you’ll find your people and your rhythm.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes! I’m always open to collaborating and partnering with people, brands, and companies. For me, the most important thing is that the partnership feels like a natural fit — I want it to mesh well with my personality, my content style, and the community I’ve built.
I love working with both small businesses and larger brands because I truly believe I can bring value to both ends of the spectrum. There are a few local businesses I already have my eye on that I’d love to partner with in the future, and I also have a list of dream collabs with bigger companies that align with my lifestyle and interests.
One of my biggest aspirations right now would be to partner with the city of Conway, where I live. I absolutely love this town and everything that makes it special, and it would be such an honor to be recognized and work alongside the place I call home.
If anyone reading this is interested in partnering or collaborating, I’d love to connect! The easiest way to reach me is through Instagram @emylarattaxo, or via email for more formal collaborations [email protected]
