Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emily Stroia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Emily , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I am sexual trauma survivor and also experienced a lot of childhood adverse experiences with abuse. As a young child, I was forced to grow up quickly and found strength in believing in something greater guiding me. I trusted my intuition to find my way through some incredibly dark moments and a supportive circle of friends to be there for me. Resilience isn’t something you learn but what you experience during and after painful moments.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a trauma therapist and focus on helping client process and integrate their trauma. I love being a therapist and witnessing the subtle shifts in my client’s growth. It is a unique and rewarding experience to be a part of someone’s healing. Right now I am working primarily with individuals who are recovering from trauma, addiction and adverse experiences.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
If I could give anyone advice, I would encourage them to explore all their resources and to acquire as much as possible. Talk to people, share your interests, needs and what you want to accomplish in your life. Be open to new possibilities and things happening in an unexpected way. Get out of your comfort zone.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I would love to connect with other mental health professionals, authors, self-help and personal development coaches. I am interested in collaborating with creating workshops, being on podcasts, and hosting events.
