We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emir Horton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emir below.
Emir, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
When I turned 18, like many teenagers I had this anticipation of receiving a car as a birthday gift from my parents. However, when that didn’t materialize, it was a defining moment for me. Instead of dwelling on disappointment, I made a conscious decision to take matters into my own hands and saved every penny to purchase myself a car. It wasn’t just about the vehicle. It was about the realization that when I set my mind on something, I’m willing to go the extra mile to put in the work and achieve it, especially in the realm of business.
When I founded my company, that same ethos followed. My drive to achieve excellence, my commitment to quality, and my relentless pursuit of my goals were all instilled in me during those formative years. I strongly believe that this high work ethic is fundamental in business. When you have a clear vision and the tenacity to achieve it, there’s nothing that can stand in your way.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
What truly excites me about our brand is my plan to create a fusion of luxury craftsmanship with a resolute dedication to driving positive social impact. We’ve garnered remarkable success in a relatively short time, primarily because we don’t just create exceptional timepieces, but because out brand ethos is deeply rooted in serving diverse cultural audiences.
While our watches epitomize luxury, they also symbolize overcoming barriers. We’re passionate about championing time, equal justice, environmental conservation, economic inclusion, excellence, and empowerment which are the guiding principles that steer our brand’s direction. Looking to the future, we’re not just aiming for a pervasive presence in luxury watchmaking. We’re striving for a significant impact in social impact sectors. We’re working on initiatives that will further embed our commitment to societal change into the core of our operations and continue to cultivate a community.
As for what’s new, we’re on the cusp of exciting launches and collaborations that will elevate our brand’s mission. We’re expanding our product lines with innovative and authentic designs that not only exude luxury but also embody our commitment to empower the masses around the world.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being observant, active listening, and transparency have played a pivotal role in shaping my trajectory. The ability to be observant is a skill that often goes underestimated. Paying attention to details, market trends, consumer behavior, and the dynamics of your environment can provide invaluable insights. I am one who actively practice mindfulness, observe my surroundings, engage in diverse experiences, and remain open to learning from every situation.
Transparency breeds authenticity and trust, vital components in any journey. Being open about your experiences, successes, failures, and the lessons learned can resonate with others and inspire trust in your brand or mission. Share your journey authentically through various platforms, whether it’s through social media, blog posts, or public speaking engagements. Don’t shy away from discussing challenges or setbacks. Highlight the lessons learned and the strategies adopted to overcome obstacles. Authentic storytelling creates connections and fosters trust among your audience.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
“Atomic Habits” by James Clear has been a transformative read in my personal and professional development. This book is a treasure trove of wisdom on how small habits can lead to remarkable changes. The notion of focusing on identity-based habits over outcome-based habits has been profound. By aligning habits with the person you strive to become, rather than merely chasing specific outcomes, you reinforce your desired identity. This mindset shift has helped me anchor habits to my core values and long-term goals.
