We recently connected with Emma De Crespigny and have shared our conversation below.
Emma, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I believe that when you are passionate about something there’s not much choice but to pursue it. I think that creates self-confidence – belief in Self. And your vision accordingly.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
So i have a showroom that specializes in home decor so that amounts to designed items clients out into their home interiors. I specialize in mid-century modern but have more recently expanded that to contemporary items including my own line of pillow covers and rugs. I represent multiple brands from South Africa where i recently moved from and intend to use US brands increasingly in the near future.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My advice to people starting out in these careers is to do your research. I was lead by passion but have come to regret that to some extent because as much as you believe in a look it might not fit your local demographic in terms of fashion or taste. However, equally to have confidence in their own aesthetic if that is what you’re selling.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I would love to connect with someone business-minded who can help me move forward under financial restraints
