Meet Emma Schermer Tamir

We were lucky to catch up with Emma Schermer Tamir recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Emma, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
You only gain confidence by doing. That means you have to act before you feel confident.

This has been one of the biggest gifts of entrepreneurship. Being a leader and growing a business requires you to continuously upgrade your skill set. It’s a constant adventure of confronting new and scary things you’ve never done before.

Most recently, I’ve been revisiting this lesson by starting a new YouTube channel. Despite having spoken on stages around the world, contributing to courses, appearing on podcasts, and guesting on other’s YouTube channels, creating something of my own felt different.

It felt audacious to decide that I had something to say, and scary to imagine putting myself out there on my own platform.

This was a project I’d been thinking about and wanting to do for years. But I allowed fear and a lack of confidence to create excuses for why it was never the right time. And then, I decided it was time to change that. I didn’t want to continue allowing fear to dictate my future.

Doing hard things doesn’t necessarily get easier. However, constantly facing challenges shows you what you’re capable of – not just when you succeed, but also that you’ll be alright if you fail.

So I committed to a weekly content schedule. And then I worked to remove all of the potential excuses. I batch filmed videos so I’d always have a queue of content ready to go. I hired an editor so I wouldn’t get discouraged or let that part slow me down.

But that wasn’t enough. I also had to work on myself and how I related to this project. I needed to let go of the hopes for instant, runaway success. I needed to really accept that this is a long term project and one that will have many bumps and turns. And more than anything, I needed to embrace that the success isn’t about views or subscribes, but about the fact that I’m doing something that feels important to me, regardless of the outcome.

It wasn’t easy at first. It still doesn’t feel easy some days. But I grow more confident with each video that I publish.

That’s where the magic lies. Once I internalized that I’d be ok, even if the risk didn’t pay off, my confidence in myself started to grow and strengthen.

Now, when it’s time to do new, scary, hard things, I work to tap into that mindset. Not just that I believe I can do the thing, but that no matter what happens, I’ll be glad that I tried.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
How do you stand out, connect, and convert in a sea of mediocre, AI-fueled content? I help you transform your brand’s authenticity into the secret sauce your business needs to succeed in today’s cutthroat environment.

Since 2016, I’ve lead my team at Marketing by Emma to help over 2,000 businesses build their brands and boost their sales in the most cutthroat e-commerce categories. Through conversion-spiking Amazon listings and website copy, winning strategies, and trusted thought leadership I deliver the insights businesses need to become unbeatable brands.

Whether speaking on stages across the globe, leading my team, or guiding clients, my goal is to empower everyone to tap into their curiosity to create stronger conversions, loyal fans, and killer brands.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Find the right people who will support you on your journey. Oftentimes, we’re our own biggest barriers. So often, I realize that I’m the one holding myself back. That’s why it’s so important to have people on your corner to cheer you on, support you through challenging times, and remind you of what you’re working towards.

Develop healthy routines to manage stress. Challenges will happen. Learning how to manage your stress, gain some perspective, and take care of yourself through the rough patches is essential. For me that’s walking, journaling, reading, and doing activities that have nothing to do with work. I make these a part of my daily life, so they help me manage stress before it gets out of control. In addition, I know that I can also turn to these as tools when I’m having a hard time.

Curiosity. This helps transform every failure into a lesson, serves as fuel to constantly learn new things, strengthens relationships with others, and feeds the drive to figure things out.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’d love to collaborate with other thought leaders, content creators, or brands who are interested in e-commerce, marketing psychology, and business strategy.
