We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emmanuel Boadi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emmanuel below.
Emmanuel , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by simply living. The very act of living day to day and being able to experience the nuances of every part of the day is what drives inspiration. Depending on how in depth I want to get with my creativity sometimes it may be forced to pay closer attention to my everyday and see what stories I can derive from it and the small things that spark great ideas.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a film photographer and cinematographer. I’ve been shooting photographs since December 2019, so about 5 years now, and I’ve been doing cinematography for only a year. I also run independent film lab called, One Millennia. It was founded during the covid era in 2020. I had just fell in love with film photography but also realized it came with a high cost for film developing and scanning so with the help of a friend, One Millennia was started. The mission is to make film photography affordable, accessible, and convenient for all photographers. The vision for One Millennia is to empower artist and creatives all over by building a hub where ideas can flourish and where art can thrive, a platform for storytelling, offering innovative film services, and spaces to connect and create times less art. My focus has been setting structure for my film lab business and growing/expanding in my photography & cinematography career. I mainly shoot hip hop, fashion, and documentary photography. I love interacting with people, making new connections, and hearing people’s stories and photography allows me to do just that. It’s my interpretation of the world I’m living in.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three things that have kept me afloat is learning to enjoy the journey in growing in your craft, knowing the reason why you create, and not comparing yourself to other artist/creatives. The best advice I can give to anyone that’s starting out is to get rid of all limiting beliefs and just go for it. We get better through consistency, perfectionism hold us back especially if the gap from thought to execution is too wide.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
Right now I’d say the challenge I’m facing is on the business end. I’ve always been very consumed in the process of photography itself and never focused on structuring as a business. The business side of things has been very new to me so it’s been slow adjusting but I’ve been making steady progress.
