Meet Emmanuel (Eli) Flores

We were lucky to catch up with Emmanuel (Eli) Flores recently and have shared our conversation below.

Emmanuel (Eli), we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
When covid started, the whole world came to a halt. Starting a new day job and ending an 8 year relationship. Did not help with the stress of the lockdown at all. Luckily the lockdown provided plenty of time to reflect and think on where I wanted to go next. That’s when I decided to buy a camera and get lost in the art of street photography. Having plenty of time off I was able to walk miles around local cities and work on my new craft. After the lockdown other countries started to call my name to realize street photography I would have never thought to capture. After thousands of photos and my craft being part of my daily life. It’s just second nature to work on my craft every day and capture the crazy times we live in.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Artistic Career is a good summary of my goal as a photographer. The ability to capture daily life in the early years of this century, knowing that might work might show people in the future how life was in the 2020s. The most exciting part about it all is the urge to travel the world in order to capture current daily life. The best way to reach me would be through my instagram: eli.flores1122 . Always a pleasure to work with street photographers all over the world. Currently making analyzing videos on instagram and youtube talking about fellow street photographers work.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Starting as a beginner several years ago my main learning tool was youtube, considering most people had alot of free time over the pandemic. Content was at an all time high in all social media. Not really a quality but depression gave me a big push as a beginner. Let me explain, having a feeling that you are stuck in a deep hole where there is no way out. Photography turned into my ladder out of the deep pit. Helped me see the world and my life in a new light. As well as discover parts of myself i would have never really thought too important. For example, self health and taking the time to reflect on how beautiful the details in life can be. The best was to start in street photography is by not worrying about photography gear, Just go out there walk and explore your city and use your phone to capture what you find to be interesting after learning the basics of what draws peoples eyes into your images. For example, leading lines.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Always looking to connect with street photographers all over the world. Mainly for the love of how people around the world capture their unique cultures and daily life. It is a beautiful part of history how many people are out there, capturing current events and just life around the world. The best way to reach me would be through my email, [email protected] but the fastest would be instant message on instagram: eli.flores1122
