Emmanuel, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
For as long as I can remember, I have used my voice to help shape the world around me and advocate for people. Being raised in a Haitian household, my faith as well as music have been essential components in my life since day 1. There hasn’t been a day where I haven’t praised YHWH and had music not playing. In pursuing a passion as well as an outlet, I turned to using my voice within music. In pursuit of encouraging others, creating a safe space, music people can enjoy and a platform to express myself. With asking YHWH for direction, and purpose I find myself finding my purpose in the midst of bad circumstances and from the tools that were given to me. True to who I am, my purpose is to create, build, and lead with my voice. With intention, conviction, and a vision.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hey 👋

Who I am? I am the next big thing, but for right now I am the best kept secret in my city. I go by the name Jemy, a young musician from Malden who has been embraced by the greater Boston music scene. Within being a musician, I learned how to be a music engineer, content creator, and videographer to build my self brand. Since I was in elementary school I have been around music creation, as well as spending time in school writing poems, songs, and performing whenever I could. With time I became confident in my abilities and was accepted by my musical peers and took my first step as a grounded artist. In 2022 I dropped my first single “Rookie of the Year” on all music platforms to solidify myself as a rising artist. Since then it has been an upward trajectory, performing for the city of Malden, Umass Lowell, and the Colleges of Fenway. Collaborating with multiple artist and releasing music has been a journey. It hasn’t been an easy road but nevertheless has been an exciting new experience in 2023. Jemy has a lot of things to look out for in 2024, new songs, more performances, music videos and more. To close the year out I dropped a new single with an Old School/RNB vibe titled “Trina” after my highschool sweetheart. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most important aspects I’ve learned in going through life as a college student in medicine and artist is being open to learn new things, implement self, and consistency. Wanting to learn new things drives and helps you at every stage in life no matter the journey. With a note pad, or you phone taking notes and implementing them into your life, and what you are doing can go a long way. Alongside that learning how to implement self in situations, helps create empathy, and the conception of want and need. When you are able to do that, there is nothing you can not do when helping others or creating something for the world. Lastly consistency, an aspect that is key to make anything you want come true. Consistency is the engine within that makes you keep going, backed by reason/need or purpose, being consistence helps push forth whatever you want in life. Never give up, always learn, and understand others the best you can. Always improve as individual and grow everyday.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I accredit my persistence, perseverance, and passion to my parents. They are the two people who have always instilled the message that I can do all things through God (YHWH) who shapes me. To never give up and to overcome all things in life. With that being the foundation of my upbringing, I can say nothing but thank you to my parents who I have always supported me in whatever I do and encourage me to be the best version of me everyday. There is no Jemy without my Mom and Dad. Throughout my journey teachers, artist, producers, and mentors have helped me develop my skills to hone in on my craft to become successful at all levels.
