Meet Emonie Smith

We were lucky to catch up with Emonie Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Emonie , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Self-confidence is a journey—one I’ve traveled myself. I encourage people to recognize their uniqueness, imperfections and all. It’s about celebrating our strengths while accepting our vulnerabilities. Through storytelling, I share moments of triumph and struggle, showing that confidence isn’t about perfection; it’s about authenticity. I began with changing my mindset and seeking out experiences that bring me peace. Yoga, meditation, and affirmations are my first loves to self confidence.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I do what I love and I love what I do. Storytelling is at the core of everything I do. Whether it’s writing children’s books, sharing personal anecdotes, or hosting community events, stories connect us.

They allow us to see the world through different eyes, fostering empathy and understanding. Animals, too, play a significant role. Their unconditional love teaches us about compassion, and I believe that extends to our fellow humans.

As for community events, they’re my canvas for celebrating diversity, creating spaces where people come together, laugh, and find common ground.

I am trilled to announce my dark romance novel series: Behind the Mirror: Pride’ will be available by the end of the year.,

In this gripping tale, we follow **Makena**, a woman burdened by a unique and perilous challenge. Within her lies the embodiment of the seven deadly sins, each trapped like a tempest behind a mirror. As Makena grapples with her inner demons, she embarks on a harrowing journey—one of redemption, self-discovery, and forbidden love.

The mirrors whisper secrets, revealing both her darkest desires and her path to salvation. With each sin she confronts—pride, wrath, envy, and more—Makena unravels the mysteries of her existence. But can she overcome the very essence of sin that threatens to consume her?

As the boundaries blur between love and damnation, Makena’s choices become pivotal. Will she emerge victorious, or will the mirrors shatter her soul forever? Dive into this spellbinding series where passion, danger, and redemption collide in a dance of shadows and desire.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Reflecting on my journey, I’ve found three qualities to be profoundly impactful:

Adaptability: Life is a dynamic dance, and adaptability is the rhythm that keeps us moving. Embrace change, learn from it, and adjust your steps. Whether it’s technology, relationships, or personal growth, staying adaptable ensures you thrive in any environment.

Resilience: Life throws curveballs—sometimes entire bowling alleys. Resilience is your armor. When setbacks come knocking, bounce back. Cultivate mental fortitude, seek support, and remember that scars tell stories of strength.

Love: Love isn’t just a feeling; it’s a force. Love for yourself, for others, and for life itself. It fuels compassion, empathy, and connection. Nurture it, and let it guide your choices.

Advice:
Learn: Be insatiably curious. Read, explore, and absorb knowledge. Learning is your compass.

Connect: Build genuine relationships. People are your greatest resource.

Persist: When storms rage, hold your course. Persistence is the wind in your sails.

Remember, your journey is uniquely yours. Embrace it with open arms, and let these qualities light your path

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

Accepting help and asking for support—a practice that we have to learn. Here are the challenges I’ve faced and how I’ve learned to navigate them:

1. Vulnerability: Admitting we need help exposes our vulnerability. We fear judgment, rejection, or burdening others. But vulnerability is strength. I’ve learned to embrace it—to say, “I’m struggling,” without shame.

2. Independence: We’re conditioned to be self-reliant. Asking for support feels like defeat. Yet, I’ve discovered that interdependence is richer. Surrendering my pride allows me to receive and give freely.

3. Reciprocity: What can I offer in return?” We hesitate, fearing imbalance. But support isn’t transactional. It’s a web of kindness. I’ve learned to accept without guilt, trusting that I’ll give back when I can.

How I overcome with grace and surrender:

– Gratitude: I thank those who help, acknowledging their generosity.
– Release: I release expectations. Support needn’t be perfect; it’s enough that it exists.
– Openness: I share my struggles honestly. Vulnerability invites connection.
– Self-compassion: I treat myself kindly. Asking for help isn’t weakness; it’s self-care.

So, I dance—between pride and surrender—knowing that both steps lead to growth.
