Meet Emsly ( Em ) Briggs

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emsly ( Em ) Briggs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emsly ( Em ) below.

Emsly ( Em ), we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found my purpose at Brunch, Gals That Brunch that is. A global platform that empowers women, friendships and community all over the world with every chapter opened. At a table with 10 strangers and one friend I felt seen, I felt comfortable and I felt solidarity. That first brunch empowered me and gave me confidence. I knew then that I wanted other women to feel the same.

I took over as Chapter Leader for Gals That Brunch South OC in 2020. I grew and built the community on a mission to be inclusive, empowering and supportive. A table where every Gal is welcomed. No limitations or judgement on age, marital status, child status, what you do for a living, or what you don’t do and etc. A table where you are welcomed as You and can let your hair down and build friendships, community and a support system. Gals need gals! Life is hard enough finding your village shouldn’t be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My focus today is wanting to empower women with confidence and self esteem. Give my Gals an inclusive community of strong genuine connections and support. I think it’s important to build each other up not down. My mission is to continue to build a space that promotes self love, kindness and being a girls girl! It changes lives. Hearing Gals tell me what this group has given them and done for them is why I do what I do. It’s for them.

I also continue to work on building strong connections with our local community of small businesses, non profits and restaurants big and small. Giving them a community of Gals always wanting to share and spread awareness of all the beautiful places South OC has to offer. We build together and we grow together.

Life is too short not to Brunch!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My strong skills in communication, positivity and resilience have been so impactful in my journey. Communicating effectively and well with others is key in making others feel supported and heard. Positive thinking breeds positive outcomes and brings a calm energy to a high anxiety and stressful social experience. You need to have resilience in order to overcome set backs or disappointment. Not everything goes as planned all the time. A good leader is resilient.

My advice for everyone is to not be afraid. Don’t be afraid to take the first step, don’t be afraid to fail, don’t be afraid to go where you want to go or say what you want to say. Fear will hold you back. Take that Leap of faith one day. Baby steps if you have to but always keep moving. Moving forward and away from fear and not back towards it.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m always looking for women owned brands, local or nearby brunch spots to explore and woman focused groups wanting to collab or get together and do a podcast or fun events together for Ladies to connect and network. Doesn’t even have to be local. Thats the beauty of the internet. You can show love, support and awareness wherever you are in the world. I’m always looking for how to grow my South OC chapter and give my Gals an experience and opportunities for more things, products to try, food to experience and events to attend and cultivate friendships and sisterhood.
