Meet Enrique Jimenez – “ejival”

We were lucky to catch up with Enrique Jimenez – “ejival” recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Enrique with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

Driven by a desire to connect with others and share my passions, I draw inspiration from the DIY ethos of late 70s punk—where creativity and collaboration thrived despite challenging circumstances. In the late 90s, my cultural landscape was quite barren, but over the course of a decade, a dedicated group of like-minded individuals came together to build a vibrant musical scene from scratch. It’s incredibly exciting to collaborate with others who share your passions and create something meaningful from nothing, fostering a sense of community and motivating people to be part of something greater than themselves.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My practice encompasses collaborations in both business and artistic realms. For example, Social Beer Party, a craft beer product I developed with close friends, originated from the concept of forming a political party with social inclinations. The core idea is to build a brand centered on collaboration.

In the craft beer industry, collaborations are crucial; they facilitate the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and cultural techniques in brewing. The dialogue and shared passion among beer makers deeply excite me, and this collaborative spirit extends to my cultural endeavors as well.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Dialogue, the sharing of knowledge, and, above all, listening to others are essential practices. Avoid rushing to judgment regarding others’ opinions and experiences; they offer valuable opportunities for learning. Always inquire about their expectations from collaboration and working with you. Being mindful of these expectations is crucial for fostering a trusting relationship and ensuring you meet, or ideally exceed, their expectations.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, I’m always on the lookout for individuals who are eager to experiment with new ideas and techniques, such as in craft beer brewing. I value those who are curious about excelling and sharing their knowledge, and who are not afraid to embrace failure as a learning experience. While the end product is important, it is the collaborative journey—marked by realistic expectations and mutual effort—that truly matters. The process of working together and learning from each other is where the real value lies.
