We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ephesian Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ephesian below.
Ephesian, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from putting in the work/ GRINDING. I have the same routine every day, consistently improving my craft. I believe in the philosophy of “chop wood, carry water”—if I keep putting in the work, I’ll master my field, and if I keep going beyond that, I’ll become the best in the space. Optimism comes naturally when you trust the process and follow a proven blueprint. I study those who have already done what I’m trying to do, and I stay down, sacrifice, and remain disciplined because I know that’s the formula for success. Success leaves clues—so I follow them.
I also get a lot of optimism from my faith in God. I trust that I am walking in my purpose. Every obstacle is just a stepping stone to the life He’s preparing me for. The way things have been going in my life, I know it’s not luck. Reading the Word is like a daily dose of wisdom; whatever I need to get through the day, I can always find it there.
Lastly, the people around me keep me optimistic. Hearing them acknowledge my work ethic and dedication pushes me even harder. Even when I don’t immediately see the results I want, I remind myself that it’s all compounding. I celebrate the small wins because I know they add up to big ones over time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the founder of SDS Investments, an investment and education platform focused on wealth-building through the stock market and real estate. Under SDS Investments, I run SDS Suites, a 5-star luxury hospitality business, and SDS Academy, an online learning platform designed to teach both novice and experienced investors how to build wealth through the stock market.
What excites me most about my brand is the impact. My goal is to change lives by making investing and business ownership accessible to as many people as possible. SDS Suites provides a world-class Airbnb experience, consistently earning perfect 5-star ratings. The hospitality game is all about automation, and I’ve built systems that allow me to scale while maintaining excellence. I even wrote a comprehensive Airbnb e-book, breaking down everything step-by-step so others can replicate my success.
On the investment side, SDS Academy is rapidly growing. Since launching in August 2024, my students have already seen real results by applying my strategy, proving that my system is replicable. I take pride in simplifying stock market investing, cutting through the noise, and teaching people how to truly build wealth.
As for what’s new—I’m always building. I’m currently working on expanding SDS Academy with new courses and resources, as well as scaling my Airbnb business by adding more high-end properties. My mission remains the same: to impact as many lives as possible through investing and business. If you’re looking to elevate your financial future, tap in with me.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Being delusional enough to believe I could master the stock market. Despite people saying it was too hard, too risky, or not a real career, I had tunnel vision. I knew if someone else figured it out, I could too. That belief fueled and continues to fuel my work ethic. I’ve had a ton of success in the market, but there is still plenty to be done.
2. Obsessiveness with learning everything about the market. I am a true student of the game, diving into stock market history, studying past crashes, understanding every major player, and analyzing businesses at a deep level. I eat, sleep, and breathe the market. I also study the history of technical analysis, study every indicator (even though I don’t use any indicators) and continue to back test every day even though my strategy is set in stone just to stay sharp.
3. Systematic Thinking in Business. When I launched SDS Suites, I knew that scaling wouldn’t come from working harder—it had to come from building systems. I automated every part of my Airbnb business: cleaning, restocking, guest communication, and pricing strategies. This has allowed me to grow without sacrificing quality, which is why I have a perfect 5-star rating across multiple units. I continue to find ways to implement new systems to increase productivity and decrease cost.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is simple: develop an unshakable belief in yourself, be obsessed with learning, and focus on building systems that allow you to scale. If you do those three things, you’ll eventually master whatever you’re working toward.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I go to the gym. I run a 10-minute mile every day, rain, sleet, or snow. If I have a lot on my mind, I run until I’m so tired that I can’t even think about what was stressing me. Something about pushing my body past its limits clears my mind and resets my focus. Also, the discipline of doing the same thing every day makes me feel accomplished. I also lift weights because I grew up an athlete and I like challenging myself physically.
Outside of working out, I like to listen to interviews from people I look up to. All successful people follow the same blueprint, and hearing them repeat the same principles over and over is a reminder that I’m on the right path. Their experiences remind me that every challenge I face is just a stepping stone to the next level.
