We were lucky to catch up with Eric Lewis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from a strong background in service. I feel that trait was instilled in me from my mom. Currently she holds a public office for the exact same reason why I started Engolio Company, to help bring out the purpose in others. I truly believe I can see the talent and gift in others, and if I can assist them with reaching their potential (via providing guidance, creating a platform or cheerleading for them), my joy will come from that.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Eric Lewis and I own and operate Engolio Company, a production house. EC has created short films, podcasts and dabbled in photography as well. At a young age, I fell in love with the idea of creating stories from thin air. Because I’m a creative by nature, my mind is always coming up with these stories about random scenarios. So in 2011, I began writing those stories down and creating short films under the name The Misteree Project. In 2017, I decided to walk away from it due to overwhelming stress and other personal things happening in my life. But, it kept calling me. I dabbled here and there in film and podcasting, helping others get their footing and becoming amazing in their field. Then in 2022, I decided to officially relaunch under the name Engolio Company. It’s an homage to the street I grew up on in the house I created a lot of stories from.
Just recently our short film, Quiet Time was accepted in the Fade To Black Film Festival.
Currently, I am writing a script for an audio only drama that’s expected to arrive in 4th Quarter 2025.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I will say throughout my 14 years of creating and filming, there are 3 lessons I can provide to those who are early in the game.
1. It pays to know how to do things yourself. When you’re working on a limited or shoestring budget, understanding how to do the job will save you a lot of headache scrambling for someone to fill a space you can’t close yourself.
2. Never stop learning how to do something. Things change in an instant, especially when it comes to podcasting, filmmaking and the like. Learn how to be the water that flows with everything and not the rock that goes against the currents.
3. Don’t ever allow anyone to make you feel like you’re not doing the right thing. I’m not saying you shouldn’t pivot if the situation calls for it, but what’s for you is going to be for you. If you can allow someone to change your mind about your passions and goals, then they weren’t your passions and goals to begin with. Be steadfast and laser-focused in your goal.
Bonus: My mantra has always been Keep Going. So I will tell you the same…KEEP GOING.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was instill each of their charactictics into me. For example:
My mom, Wanda, has instilled her ability to be helpful and be a service to others. She was born that way, so I naturally became that way.
My dad, James has instilled his hustle mentality and his ability to always find a solution. Keep pushing yourself to figure out the answer, and then gain that knowledge to pass to others.
My stepdad: Eric, instilled his inquisitive mindset. He is one of the smartest men I know, and his desire to learn more about the world and how things work has always fascinated me, which is why I have so much knowledge about things.
