Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eric “Remrod” Mayes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eric “Remrod”, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I think my purpose found me, I feel like helping others is one of my best purposes in life. I love the feeling of giving more than receiving. I love being the one people speak about in a positive way. My purpose has always been to help others or make clients happy. I want to put out the best representation of myself and let others spread the word about me. Word of mouth is very important to me, so with a daily mindset of putting out great energy I feel like my purpose serves me well.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Personally I’m a hustler, I put it all on the line to be the best me and successful as I can. Being an entreprenuer is harder and deeper than many think. You literally have to push yourself to not be average. You have to motivate yourself. I put my heart into every venture I step foot in. Im a portrait photographer, I have to have a compelling vision that know ones has seen to attract more people to me. I have to market myself. I love photography and film and when I started it was only a hobby. Word of mouth put me into business. I love marketing, branding and the business side of the entertainment world which some tend to run from. Whats special about my journey is that I started from the bottom with an entry level camera and since have been published in newspapers, magazines, television and more. I’ve traveled abroad to even work. The passion you have can get you in any door I feel like. I have so much in the works as far as new reality shows and featured films. I love working with other creators and collaborating on special products. I truly feel you have to do what you love to get the most enjoyment out of life!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Owning you rights, your website domain and your trademark. Handling all of your business and covering all of your tracks is the most important thing in building your brand and business. You don’t want any one else in control of what you’ve put so much hard work into or anyone to take it from you. Reading is also important, you have to be a master in your field and you can never think you know it all, it’s always room for growth and improvement.

Rich dad poor dad and the go-giver are the two books that changed my perspective and life.
You have to have assets that are creating passive income.
You have to let your money work for itself without you. Making sure the things your buying are actually making you money and not just a liability.
Go giver, give more than what people expect from you or give more than they paid you for. Go the extra mile helping others, add value to others to the point they need you, create leverage.
