Meet Eric Sierra

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eric Sierra. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Eric, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by traveling to new places, gaining new experiences, engaging in hobbies, and collaborating with others. These activities expose me to fresh ideas and perspectives, fueling my imagination and inspiring to create creative content.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I create travel content that captures the beauty and uniqueness of different cultures and landscapes. The most exciting part is discovering hidden gems and sharing those experiences with my audience. I aim to inspire and motivate my audience with my art. Currently, I’m working on creating a few short films focusing on extreme sports.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were adaptability, storytelling, and cultural awareness.

Adaptability: Being able to adjust to different environments and unexpected changes is crucial in travel and content creation. Embrace flexibility and stay open to new experiences.
Storytelling: Crafting engaging narratives helps connect with audiences. Practice writing, photography, and videography to enhance your storytelling skills.
Cultural Awareness: Understanding and respecting different cultures enriches content. Immerse yourself in local traditions and learn from the people you meet.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to travel often, observe keenly, and practice your craft consistently. Networking with other travelers and creators can also provide valuable insights and opportunities for growth.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back to recharge. This often means disconnecting from social media, spending time in nature, or revisiting my favorite travel memories. I also find it helpful to break tasks into smaller, manageable steps and prioritize them.

My advice is to set boundaries to prevent burnout, practice mindfulness to stay grounded, and remember why you started your journey. Embrace the process, and don’t be afraid to seek support from fellow travelers and creators.
