We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Erica Mayr. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Erica below.
Hi Erica, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
It’s taken me a lot of time to develop my confidence and self-esteem. I think with age I have learned to not care what other people think. I uphold myself to the standard I want and as long as I am being true to myself and my mission in life then other people can pound salt. I am unapologetically myself to a fault. It’s taken a lot of years of getting bullied for being the ‘fat’ girl to people in the music scene early in my career telling me I am not ‘metal’ enough to people thinking they are just better then you in general. To all of them I say bluntly, kiss my ass. I am a thick woman who has embraced not only her singing voice but her voice as a strong independent, musician, business woman and bad ass.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the front woman of the original metal/rock band Storms Within and I am also co-owner of Eerie Siren Productions, both out of Erie, Pennsylvania. I don’t know what more to say then life as a ‘rockstar’ is the best. When you get to play in front of large crowds of a few of your buddies, it is beyond the best feeling in the world. I love playing a show and people sing your songs back to you. I know a lot of people base success off of things like money, fame etc. but when you can play a show and people sing your music. It’s a feeling that can not be topped. We have been fortunate since Covid that our schedule has picked up tremendously. We played 16 shows in 2022, 29 shows in 2023 and played 30 shows this year with a two week tour smack in the middle of it. Storms already has 17 shows scheduled for 2025. It’s a great feeling to be on top of it and after years of hard work it paying off. That is why Eerie Sire Productions started. We have been booking shows all along but we have been booking a lot and working with a lot bands. It was just nice to put a name to the scheduling. With the birth of ESP we also started Female Feature Fest as well. A festival that highlights females musicians in original acts featuring 18 bands both years we have had it. September next year will make fest number 3!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Communication is key. Respect is huge. Backing your word. Period.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Currently my biggest obstacle is not having enough local venues to bring all these amazing bands from out or town to. Luckily, we have been working with a few venues in Erie that are willing to give us the dates and let us make magic for those shows! The other challenges is so many good bands and not enough time!
